GOOD EDUCATION IN MY VIEW

Have you realized how often you have hearing the wish; “I want to charge education system
now.” In recent years? Probably quite often these days. It raises a question in minds: What is
education? Education is an indispensable condition of human life. Because education has
undertaken important, even the most important function of human beings both in physical and
spiritual ways. Through education, human beings are establishing a unique world in every area,
from individual life to school, national and international relations with others. It is difficult to
say that there is fundamentally a change in human nature needs to be trained, even if the tools
and methods necessary for the training of people have suffered some changes compared to time
and space. Although qualities of school location and type, student profile and infrastructure
depend on person to person for a good education. So, how about a good education with the
whole outline in my opinion?
Training is a change and balance tool. So, education can reestablish the old values at any
time. In this context, the aim of the education is to make a change in the path of a world
civilization, by providing the happiness of people and the environment of peace and tranquility.
Education is the process of preparing the future between past and future by using it as a tool.
Education is whole and the smallest absence reduces the efficiently of training.
The structure and location of schools for a good education is very important. Schools must
consist of large classrooms. It also needs to allocate free spaces to the students in order to
breathe and feel relax, such as the laboratory, the sport halls, the art rooms, the event rooms etc.
In these days, while concrete and buildings are increasing in the world, schools should be found
in natural environments and intertwined with nature. There must be a garden for students that
can run and play games, or sit in the shade of a tree and read a book. This will increase the
motivation of the students as well as the demands and efficiency of the teachers. Moreover,
school is not a preparation for life, it is life itself. Therefore, the interest and curiosity of the
student is an important factor. If people find out how they live by doing it in life, they learn by
living in the school by doing it directly in one of actions. In life, the students are active in
learning the participant. With this activity, a course is dominated by from concrete to the
abstract. The school must be a purer organizer of these actions. In this organization, a
democratic environment should be provided for students to freely reveal their personal ideas
and proposals. Thus, the student confronts directly with the information generated by the
actions associated with its environment which is a cross section of the real life it organizes as
part of itself. This confrontation provides a practical benefit. In my opinion, a student is able to
reveal and uses cognitive, sensory and psycho-motor skills in the life, and they participate
directly. Thus, students recognize his/her competence and self-confidence. They gain the power
to work independently and takes important steps on the way to stand. In my view, students
being form active knowledge through action.
The other important point of education is knowledge. According to James, the correctness of
knowledge depends on the satisfaction of human (Tozlu, Age, page 58). As you know,
information is dynamic and variable. Changing of information is inevitable according to the
situation and environment. As well as day to day technology is developing. We come across
new information every day. For instance, everyone thinks that the bats are blind; however, the
searches show that bats are not blind. They only prefer to use to sound primarily. If there was
not a need to reconsider an existing knowledge about it, we would have misunderstood what
we know. This implies that it is important to teach students to keep open their learning wishes.
They must know that they should not be afraid to test against the rapid development of
knowledge. They ought to try again and again. It is also necessary to teach the students that
they cannot reach the information without having the necessary experience.
According to me, two building blocks of education are teacher and student. The teacher
should act as a guide as a provider of democratic environment and as a facilitator. The teacher
should lead learning rather than control it. Moreover, he/she should focus on problem solving.
The teacher may pay attention to the individual characteristics of the students and try to ensure
effective participation. Besides that, a good teacher should help to students’ character
formation. Moreover, he/she should destroy the difficulties that prevent the individual
programs, diversity should be provided in terms of tools, materials, topics and students’ opinion
and choices. So, is there a student’s duty for effective education? The answer is easy: of course!
In the learning process, students should do the work of reaching the right by trial and error
method. By doing research, using the scientific method should produce solutions to problems.
Also, a training order is important in which the students are in the center. They must grow in a
training program that is suitable for attention, capacity, and characteristic. Students should be
encouraged and directed to cooperate more than the competition. Training for a civilized life
should be a group life. For example, during my education life, I have met a lot of teachers.
Some of them were really good and effective teachers whereas others of them were unhappy
people who only tried to get salary. My teachers, who I call good, brought visual materials that
would help us understand the subject rather than just reading the lesson books or studying for
only the exam. They used to organize extracurricular activities. In fact, all the students in the
classroom have joined a project, and we even made a soap under the guidance of the teacher.
In addition to this, my teacher proposed to work as a group rather than as an individual. In this
way, our friendships were getting stronger and we were learning the information in a fun way
with helping each other. In my opinion, if the students learn the notes in the music class, do
they know the notes only by name or use these notes on an instrument? Absolutely no! Student
should experience it. He/she should feel notes in music class and heard harmony. Another
example is that courses, such as biology, should not be taken as a lesson by reading course
books in class or by the teacher to explain the subject. If the subject of plants is being processed,
students should be given the chance to go the botanic gardens because education is not only in
the classrooms. Training can be anywhere. In addition, “educational tools are not just pencil,
paper or books. Training tools are sometimes a bird, sometimes a leaf and sometimes a water-
filled container. Let think of a plant, for example. It will be more efficient for a student to grow
a plant rather than giving information directly to a student as light and water are required for
the plants to live. In this way, by seeing the plant will try to learn and have fun. A plant breeding
will teach responsibility as well as gain knowledge.
The other important point is what should be taught to the student. In another words, how
should curriculum be? In my view, the curriculum should not be prepared with certainty and
should not be changed. It should have the flexibility to rearrange in the process according to the
students’ interest and ability. The curriculum may also be designed to address the individual
differences of children. Because everyone is different, and even if the same thing is presented
to them with the same methods, they will experience different things. This will cause some to
hate school while other students love school. In addition to this, the curriculum should have all
the research areas in life. Topics chosen from life than theory. Well, how should the student be
evaluated? In my opinion, students’ exam should not be based on memorization. A problem
which is may face in life should be asked to solve with using a scientific method. In other words,
it should be paid attention to whether or not the students learn the methods of accessing
information rather than what they know. The aim of the exams should be to test the adaptation
of the child to the social life and to reveal the place where it can be the most useful and the most
helpful.
In conclusion, we should pay attention to this, education is not life, but life itself. Learning
should be directly relevant to the student’s interests; however, this does not mean that education
can be created entirely according to the child’s wishes. Because the child is not enough to put
scientific goals. They need to teachers’ guidance. Also, learning is not a process in which
teachers fill the information in the minds of the students. It is a practical process. The students
should reach the results themselves by experiencing by themselves. The teacher’s role is to
advise and assist. Moreover, the teacher must be patient and let the student find the truth on
their own. When teaching the information, it should be rated that there are no absolute truths,
only hypotheses that have been tested and proven useful. Also, the school should support
cooperation, not competition. As you can see, my teaching philosophy is close with
progressivist perspective. In my opinion, give the pupils something to do, not something to
learn; and the doing is of such a nature as to demand thinking; learning naturally results. As
John Dewey said, “If we teach today’s students as we taught yesterday, we rob them of
tomorrow.”
