Research by Devi Eka Wahyuni, NIM 2115011 entitle “Accounting Students’
Need in Learning English at SMK Negeri 1 Lubuklinggau” by the first Advisor
Ardayati, M.Pd and second Advisor Yulfi, M.Pd.

ABSTRACT

The problem of the research was:”what are accounting students’ need in learning
English at SMK Negeri 1 Lubuklinggau?”. The objective of the research was to
identify accounting students’ need in learning English at SMK Negeri 1
Lubuklinggau. The researcher used descriptive quantitative. The Subject of the
research was 67 students and 5 English teachers, it was taken through cluster
random sampling. The data were collected by using questionnaire and interview.
Technique for analyzing the data used descriptive statistic. The results of the
research were: 1) students’ need to learn English for Specific Purposes (ESP) to
support their career in the working field after graduating from their school. 2) The
knowledge of English could help the students to completion of higher education
and making a good progress in future career. 3) Students need to develop their
speaking skill which they were interested in speaking skills. 4) Students need to
learn all skills in English. 5) Students need learning style and strategies to develop
their comprehension in learning English. 6) Students need to practice with their
friends to exchange their knowledge. 7) Students need a modern role by teacher
and they could express their ability in the classroom based on guide from the
teacher. 8) Students need classroom interaction that related to teaching learning
activities. 9) Students attach great importance to the study of English. It can be
concluded that the students and English teacher of SMK Negeri 1 Lubuklinggau
agreed that students’ need to learning English.

the researcher was completed this thesis entitled: Accounting Students’ Need in

Learning English at SMK Negeri 1 Lubuklinggau. This thesis is requirement for

accomplishing Bachelor Degree in English Education Program, Institution of

Teacher Training and Education STKIP PGRI Lubuklinggau.

In arranging this thesis, a lot of people have provided motivation, advice,

and support for the researcher. The researcher want to deliver my sincere thank to

Ardayati, M.Pd (Advisor I), and the researcher want to deliver my sincere thank to

Yulfi, M.Pd (Advisor II). Thank you for all your suggestions and guidance which

have given the researcher extraordinary experiences until finish this thesis. The

researcher also thank to all lecturers in English Education Program that have been

giving time to share your knowledge.

Finally, the researcher realized that this thesis has many weaknesses. The

researcher needs advice and criticism in order for this thesis to be better. The

researcher hopes this thesis can be used for all of people who need this topic and
