Minimizing The Negative Impacts Of Social Media On People’s Lives.

At present, the flow of technological development is very rapid, especially in the field
of social media. Social media is very important for human life. In fact, it becomes a daily
necessity for everyone. With social media they can establish communication with family,
friends, and be able to get to know everyone in the world. They can also get news and
information from these social media. Not only positive news but also a lot of negative news
found on social media. This is because everyone can provide and disseminate information
quickly. The news and discourses that exist in social media greatly affect the readers and can
even affect their lives. Then how to minimize the negative impact of social media on people's
lives?

The first is to multiply socialization in real life. Many people say that the presence of
social media can keep the near and the distant closer. This happens because everyone has
been busy with their own gadget. They prefer to share their problems or share their activities
on social media that can provide satisfaction when receiving lots of likes and comments
compared to telling stories directly to people near them such as family or friends. Though
communicating and telling stories to friends or family can make our relationship more
harmonious and peaceful. They can exchange ideas and solve problems well without any
misunderstandings. They can also communicate intimate, free, and certainly more fun. When
they have done a lot of socialization in real life, they will not be busy reading negative
information and news on social media that can affect our lives.

The second is to limit the use of social media. This can be the most effective way to
avoid being addicted to social media. Often when they wake up from sleep, they are always
look for their mobile phone just to check their social media accounts. It can make bad habits
for us, especially for eye health. Our eyes will get a digital eye strain. When the atmosphere
of the room still tends to be dark in the morning, our eyes are exposed to the blue light smart
phone. Not only that, but also we will be easier to get anxious in the morning. Because we
expect a lot of likes / hearts from uploading photos. The reply email about work report is also
not answered. It was able to make our mood down. Then the mind feels full of information.
As a result we also spend a lot of energy, because the mind has already been burdened with
everything that should not be thought of. Therefore we must limit the use of social media. For
example, by scheduling specific times to check social media or set a timer to limit ourselves
to 20-30 minutes. Then put our phone on silent. When we aren’t hearing a tone or vibration
every time we get a notification, we are less likely to get distracted. And the last is taking a
break from social media or limit the number of apps we use.

The above method can make us avoid the negative effects of using social media. We
also have to be critical and intelligent users so that it is not easy to receive and share
information that can have a bad influence on our lives.
