Moving Pillsbury Forward
Pillsbury Area Community Meeting
November 20, 2019
Lanphier High School Commons Area 5:30 to7:00 PM
Who is the Moving Pillsbury Forward working group? A group of
community volunteers focusing on understanding the challenges and
issues related to the Pillsbury property.
Objective: To provide leadership and support in re-development of the
Pillsbury property for the health of the Pillsbury Neighborhood and
overall well-being of the Greater Springfield Community.
Redevelopment: As a part of redevelopment, a primary goal is to see
that the existing unsafe structures on the property are demolished.
Control of the property: Legal ownership of the property is necessary
to enact a redevelopment plan. A significant element in moving
forward is in taking control. Several options have been explored.
Currently, it appears that the best option is for local government to
acquire the property.
When we take control of the Pillsbury property, we take
control of the outcome. Until then we will simply have more
of the same...and that is not acceptable. The old Pillsbury
factory is a cancer that needs removed. A Band-Aid is no
solution.Warehouse 7-9, Docks, Bakery Mix& fenced in courtyard
