METHOD STATEMENT FOR ERECTION OF SCAFFOLDING

CLIENT: SHELL ENERGY INDIA PVT LTD

CONTRACTOR: SOPAN O&M COMPANY PVT. LTD


Objective:

The following method statement has been prepared to provide a safe and effective system of work for

the installation of general working scaffold to all area of construction within Gas fence wherever

required.

Scope:

The scope of this document will provide the methodology and sequence of work that will be

implemented on site complying with respect to project specification and client standards.

Safety measures:

All personnel shall be provided with personnel protective Equipment (PPE) and it shall be worn at all

time during site working hours.

Full body safety harness shall also be provided and shall be used when and where necessary.

The Safety Officer shall be responsible for the on-site safety implementation at all times and shall carry

out daily inspection including inspection of tools, PPEs, trained personnel and report to the project in

charge.

The scaffolding inspector is responsible for scaffolding certification. He will check the scaffolding and

give approval by installing scaffolding Green Tag. Scaffolding shall be inspected by inspector in every

seven day and shall be signed in scaffolding tag.

Material Selection & transportation:

Scaffold tube will be straight, free from any visual damage.

Scaffolding fittings will be free from visual damage and with free running nuts.

All scaffold materials will be visually inspected prior to job start. Defective materials will e segregated to

prevent use.
Materials will be transported by tailor, truck or tractor, vehicle shall comply all required documentation

and fulfill all safety compliance W.R.T. Shell norms.

Material Stacking & Segregation:

Materials should be stacked in a proper way and provide safety barriers for the same.

Ensure all the stacked materials are stable and inaccessible to unauthorized persons.

Location for stacking as be provided by shell team.

Scaffolding Erection:

Ensure competent persons should perform the scaffolding erection activities.

All scaffolding will be supplied and erected in accordance with the Shell standards and guidance.

Take appropriate precautionary measures and install necessary barricading.

Chaining from person to person will be used to move materials.

Appropriate tools should be used for scaffolding erection.

Level the ground and clear the area on which the scaffold is to be erected of any debris.

Ensure that the scaffold structure is constructed level and straight as work progresses

Ladder will provided and fixed with scaffold for safe access to the scaffolding platform.

Work shall be proceeded after certifying scaffold by scaffolding inspector (green scaffolding tag to be

placed). Scaffolding shall be inspected every seven day and signed by scaffolding supervisor.

On completion of the scaffold all spare materials will be cleared from the work area and stored in an

agreed position or removed from site.

Scaffolding Modification (If required):

While modification Red tag should be displayed on scaffolding and area barricaded to restrict

unauthorized access to scaffolding.


Scaffolding Dismantling:

Access the scaffold platform from a ladder, do not climb to scaffolding.

Maintain a tidy work area

Do not overload the scaffold bays – progressively remove scaffolding equipment from platforms and

stack it neatly on the ground.

Do not leave loose materials on platforms.

Do not throw down any materials or scaffolding equipment.

On Completion all materials will be cleared from the work area and stored in an agreed position or

removed from site.

A final visual check will be made by the Charge hand prior to leaving site.
