What I know - Producing an offspring
WHAT I KNOW WHAT I WANT without sperm and egg cell, is a asexual
TO KNOW reproduction.

What I want to know- The types of asexual

reproduction.
C. EXPLORE

I have here 3 pictures, you are going to

categorize whether is a budding, marcotting and
layering.

Ma’am first picture is layering, the

second one is budding and the last
picture is marcotting.

C. EXPLAIN

Okay class, based from the activity conducted Ma’am asexual reproduction.
what is our topic for today?

Very good. But before we tackle the asexual Ma;am it is the ability 0000000to produce
reproduction let us define first what is another organism.
reproduction?

Okay correct! Reproduction is the ability to

increase in number and produce their own
kind.

Animals and plants vary in the manner they

reproduce species.

Okay how about fertilization? It is the union of the egg cell and sperm cell
ma;am.
Very good! Fertilization is the union of the
egg and sperm cell to form a zygote.

Okay how about pollination? Ma;am it is the transfer of pollen grains to

other plants.
Very good! Pollen grains are being transferred
from other plants insects or animals.

Okay example of pollination, anyone?

Ma’am when a butterfly sucks the nectar of a
gumamela, the pollen grains of the flower
Very good! That’s why in pollination, insects may transfer to the other flower.
and other animals has big role.

So lets proceed to genes and hereditary traits.

What are genes?

Ma’am these are the factors of hereditary.
Very good! They are transmitted from one
generation to next.

For example, you dd not inherit your dark

skin color, but you inherit the control of your
skin.

Okay, how about hereditary traits?

Ma’am these are the controlled genes.
Very good! They are transmitted from one
generation to the next.

And also, it can be morphological,

physiological, behavioral and sexual.

What is morphological?
Ma’am it refers to the structure of the body.
Very good! It refers to the structure such as
shapes, length and size and also color of the
body parts.

How about physiological?

Ma’am it refers to the function of the body
Very good! It refers to the function of the parts.
body such as rolling of the tongue.

Okay how about behavioral?

Good1 It is something that causes a reaction. Ma’am these are the activities in response to
Such as crying of the baby and sucking their stimuli.
thumb because they are hungry.

Okay then, how about sexual? Ma’am it refers with, being a male and
female.
Very good! It also refers to your external and
internal genitals and changes occurs during
your puberty stage.

So if the hereditary traits are in humans,

asexual reproduction occurs in plants and
animals.

Okay, what is asexual reproduction?

Ma’am producing an offspring without sex
Very good! It is a reproduction wherein egg contact or egg cell and sperm cells.
cell and sperm cell are not involved to
produced an organism.

Who can give me an example of product of an

asexual reproduction? Ma’am strawberry and potato.

Very good! How about the types of asexual

reproduction? Ma’am budding, spore formation, binary
fission, fragmentation and regeneration.
Okay very good! What is budding?
Ma’am it is a type of asexual reproduction
Very good1 It is a type of asexual that develops from an outgrowth or a bud.
reproduction that a new organism was
attached, and as it grows, separating from the
parent organism only when it is mature and
leaving.

The picture shows how an budding happens,

from an outgrowth bud it separate from its
parent organism.

Very good! How about spore formation?

Ma’am a reproductive cell capable of
developing into a new individual without
fusion of another cell.
Okay very good! It is a method of asexual
reproduction when is found in non-flowering
plants.

Okay who can give me an example of product

of spore formation?
Ma’am, fungi like: Mushrooms, green algea
and molds.

Very good! A mushroom is an example of

Spore Formation.

How about the Binary Fission?

Ma’am this is the reproduction of a bacteria.
Very good! It is the primary reproduction in a
prokaryotic organisms such as a bacteria.

It is also classified into 3 types, what are

they? Ma’am a simple,transverse and Longitidunal
binary fission.
Very good! So what is a transverse binary
fission?
Ma’am is a reproduction of a cell without
mitosis and meosis.

Very good! When the plane of cytoplasmic

division coincides with the transverse axis of
the individual, the fission is called transverse
binary fission.

The picture shows how transverse binary

fission occurs.
Ma’am it is a types of mitosis in which
Okay how about longitudinal binary fission? fission occurs along a longitudinal axis.
Very good! When the plane of cytoplasmic
division coincides with longitudinal axis of
the individual this fission is called
longitudinal. Example of longitudinal is an
Euglena.

In this picture shows how the longitudinal

fission occurs.

And lastly, simple binary fission. What is

simple binary fission? Ma’am it occurs when the cytoplasmic
division passes through any plane.
Very good! It is occurs when the cytoplasmic
division passes through any plane it is called
simple binary fission. Example of this fission,
an amoeba.

In this picture shows how the simple binary

fission occurs.

Next is, Fragmentation. What is a

fragmentation? Ma’am the parent body breaks down into
smaller pieces.
Very good! And how about the regeneration?
Ma’am the growth of the lost body parts an
Example of this is a starfish. animal.
In this picture shows how the fragmentation
and regenaration occurs in a starfish.

Very good! Let us now proceed to vegetative

reproduction.

Class, in this process, plants produces by

leaves, roots and stem.

Some plants like rose, do you know what rose

is class? Yes ma’am

Okay like roses, cactus and sugar cane, stem

cutting is the process on how to reproduce
them.

We have 3 types of vegetative reproduction

what are those? Layering, marcotting and grafting.

Very good! How the layering happens?

Ma’am the stem of the plant is amde to
Very good! In this method, a shoot of a parent reproduce the roots.
plant is bent until it can be covered by soil.
The tip of the shoot remains above ground.
New roots and eventually a new plant will
grow.

This picture shows how layering happens.

Example of layered fruits is a strawberry.

Okay how about marcotting?

Ma’am it is a layering type that involves
rooting of a stem while it is still attached in
the parent plant.
Very good! In this method, use a sharp knife,
and the selected woody branch is “wounded”
by girdling. A portion of the outer bark is
removed in the form of a ring. It should be
wrapped with a thick patch of damp moss. It
should be watered necessary.

This picture shows how an marcotting is

done.

How about the grafting?

Ma’am it is combining favorable stems
Very good! These are horticultural techniques characteristics with favorable roots.
used to join parts from two or more plants so
that they appear to grow as a single plant.

Okay class do you understand? Yes ma’am.

Let’s proceed to our next activity.
