Based on the study, the highest indicator according to the statement on the
questionnaire under communication was that the usage of social networking sites help the
students more in communicating with other people from other countries and it has an
equivalent total weighted mean of 3.35, while the lowest indicator has a 2.69 total
weighted mean based on the answer of the respondents that their relationship to their
family is much better after using Social Networking Sites. According to the statement
under information, the highest indicator was students can get information from Google
and it gained a total weighted mean of 3.67 and the lowest indicator stated that the social
networking sites was safe to use in searching information that has a total weighted mean
of 2.80.
Students were good to get some information in Google and social networking sites are
safe to use in searching information which means the students have high impact of social
networking sites in terms of information. Most of the respondents were proficient which
means that they have high grade in academic performance in Science. The gathered
results presented that there is significant relationship between the academic performance

Introduction
The internet has become a primary vehicle for many individuals` day-to-
day activities, with the advent and historic growth of technologies such as electronic mail
eCommerce, and social networking sites and it is an increasing rarity for an individual in
the us to go even a day without some sort of interaction using an internet technology
(Horrigan, 2015). This means that social networking sites helped people on their everyday
life like communicating to other people and getting information. Through social
networking sites, people can easily expressed their insights and emotion to everyone. SNS

A social networking site is an online platform that allows users to create a public
profile and interact with other users on the websites. Social networking sites usually have
a new user on the input a list of people with whom they share a connection and then allow
the people in the list to confirm or deny the connection. After connections were established,
the new user can search the network of connections to make more connections. Social

(ICT) is an important factor that opened doors for distant learning and remote access of

The purpose of this research was to determine whether the social networking site

Background of the Study
for the Health Professions (2017), maximizing social media is crucial in transmitting and
constructing knowledge. Among the processes that social media can promote are feedback,
interactivity, integration and reflection. Social Networking Sites have been widely used
nowadays in our developing country. Most social networking sites were used to and
provide interactions with different people who has the same interests, likes and even real-
life connections. Nowadays, social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
and others were attracting millions of people around the world especially the students SNS
had been the source of happiness for many students. Social Networking Sites have been a
trending topic nowadays and became viral among teenagers. Especially to the teenagers,
many were associated to social networking sites. Since teenagers wanted always to be in
with what is on-trend. Even education has been influenced by social networking sites
because the goal of education was immersed, and teachers were making far into the world
Social Networking Site is the connection of friends or family together which allow
you to communicate easily. Lately, online social networking sites engaged students and
needed to be studied as distributors of information. The social networking site was being
used in various ways like blogging, chatting and forming communities or groups. Social

publicity around the internet. The most influential and popular networking sites are
Facebook, Twitter and YouTube which was affecting to academic performance in Science
of Senior High Students. According to Harrath and Alobaidy (2016) on the students of the
Arabian Gulf that there is a possitive impact of this technology at their academic level
through the useful and optimal use of social networking sites. This study aimed to give
advice and guidance to the future researcher including the students on how to properly use
the Social Networking Sites and its effect to Academic performance of Senior High School

examine the individual pieces starting with the largest element, networks, and working
Social Networking Sites Theory viewed social relationship in terms of nodes and
ties. Nodes are the individual actors within the network, and ties are the relationship
between the actors. There can be many kind of ties between the nodes. In its most simple
form, a social network was a map of all of the relevant ties between the nodes being studied.
The network can also be used to determine the social capital of individual actors. This
concept was often play in a social network diagram, where nodes are the points and ties

of the total respondents. While, respondents with grade range of 75-79 obtained the lowest
frequency of one (1) or two percent (2%) only of the total respondents.
Similarly to the result gathered by (AFP Reaxnews 2018), new research has found
that when it comes to school performance, social media has little influence in a student’s
grades. It explained that social networking sites has a help to the students to get higher

Similarly to the study of Monem (2018), Social Networking Sites has a positive
impact on the student’s language, intellectual, moral behavior and Academic Performance.
Social Networking Sites helps the students to build their ability to generate and more
fruitful not only on their houses but also to their academic performance. Through the use
of this, it easy to them to relate on other’s language, intelligence and behavior which the
students has a mentally growth through the use of Social Networking Sites.

CHAPTER V
This chapter includes the summary of the research, the results of the data,
conclusion and recommendations that the researchers suggest to make the study more
reliable.
Summary
The research objective was to determine the “Impact of Social Networking Sites on
in terms of:
1.2 Information?
2. What is the academic performance of senior high students in Science in terms of?

The researchers utilize descriptive method and correlational method to describe the
relationship between the two variables. The researchers randomly selected 55 respondents
using purposive sampling technique. The data was gathered using the conceptualize
with 9 and 6 statements. Therefore, the 4-likert scale instruments used have 15 statements
with the indicators Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, and Strongly Disagree. After
gathering the data, it undergone the process of analyzation, computed using the Pearson’s

Conclusions
The researchers made a conclusion from the results of the data gathered.
1. There has a high impact in using social networking sites in terms of communication
and information. The researcher concluded that the usage of social networking sites
helps the students to communicate with other people in other country and can’t help
the relationship with the family is much better after using social networking sites.
And also the researcher concluded that the students can get information from
Google and the social networking sites are not safe to use in searching information.
2. Using social networking sites can affects the academic performance in Science.
3. There is significant relationship between the academic performance and usage level
4. Infomercial will help the SNS user to get tips for the proper use of SNS. It aims to
inform the possible effects of SNS to the Academic Performance in Science to the
students.
Recommendations
The researcher formulated recommendations based from the results gathered from the
respondents.
For the students that the student’s gain knowledge regarding in Social Networking Sites
about the effects of it to the students and how the proper usage of social networking
sites.
39
For the teachers they should help their students in informing the issues regarding the
Social Networking Sites role in the Academic Performances. And also they should
For the parents they should aware regarding the influences of Social Networking Sites
to their children. With enough lore or understanding, they can think possible precaution
ways to their child who’s prone to poor academic performances because of too much
For the community they should to focus on their area to know its effect of Social
community. It would also help them to learn the actions to their community especially
to their youth.
For the future researcher they will know about the impact of social networking sites,

This will serve as an evidence that the questionnaire undergo the process of validation. There
are some changes in the questionnaire as recommended by the teachers. The researcher and the
research adviser agreed to make the questionnaire simple and easy to understand so that the
respondents will understand it clearly.
The signature of the teachers that reviewed the questionnaire serves as an evidence that the
questionnaire can be used to gather data.
