By : Lendcy Mojica – News feature

Identified suspect, Police Corporal Roger Rubio was facing charges for murder, together with
two others for killing the radio broadcaster Dindo Generoso last Nov. 7 in Dumaguete City.

Generoso, a 67 years old radio announcer and block timer of radio sation dyEM 96.7 Bai Radio
was shot dead at around 7 a.m. by two motorcycle-riding assailants in the city of Dumaguete.

Generoso sustained eight gunshot wounds to his headand body, and was declared dead on
arrival at the Sillman University Medical Canter.

Furthermore, officer in charge in NOPPO, Police Colonel Julian Entoma, ordered a manhant
operation against Rubio, who was identified as a gunman in the killing of Generoso.

The Identification of Rubio as the gunman was made after the arrest of two other suspect,
retired Policeman Glenn Corsame and Teddy Reyes Salaw, shortly after the killing of Generoso.

The two arrested suspect refused to comment on the accusations against them.

One of the suspects in the murder of Dumaguete broadcaster and blocktimer Mercedario
“Dindo” Generoso, has been placed on the immigration lookout list, according to the
Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS).

Aside from the possibility this was a politically-motivated killing due to Generoso's work as a
radio broadcaster, De Leon said the police are looking into information that the victim may
have been "embroiled in a family land dispute."

“All angles will be looked into to determine the motive of this attack against Dindo Generoso,” De Leon
said.
Dumaguete City Police chief Wilfredo Alarcon Jr., said authorities saw text message exchanges
between Rubio and Salaw discussing changing car plate numbers on the vehicle used in the
attack against the radio broadcaster.

Meanwhile, Entoma advised all opersting units to proceed with caution dealing with Rubio, a
member of the 2nd provincial mobile force company detailed at the Guihulngan City police
station who is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Additionally, Salaw was also faced additional illegal possession of firearms, after the arresting
officers seized a 45 caliber pistol from the suspect.
Entoma said that after the put together the CCTV footage in the area, it was learned that the
triggerman was inside the pick-up parked at the boulevard a few kilometers from the crime
scene.

Upon seeing the victim’s car approaching, the triggerman disembarked from the pick up and
transferred to the motorcycle driven by the retired policeman.

Entoma added that the new pick up was traced based on the conduction sticker caught on the
CCTV footage while the retired policeman was identified through the markings of the helmet
seen in the footage.

“Ilang gipeke ang plate number sa pick-up pero wala nila mausab ang conduction sticker, (They
faked the plate number of the pick up but they did not alter the conduction sticker),” Entoma
said.

It was learned that the driver of the pick up is cooperating with the authorities.

However, Entoma said the retired policeman refused to issue any statement and wanted to
wait for his lawyer.

But Entoma said they are now closer to identifying the triggerman.

“Naa na mi lig-ong ibidensya mo identify sa triggerman through sa conversation sa cellphone ug

sa driver sa pick-up. Gikan siya alas kwartro sa kaadlawon gikan sa usa ka lugar padulong dinhi
sa Dumaguete. Iyang gitext iuang distansya gikan sa Dumaguete (We now have strong evidence
that will lead us to the identity of the triggerman based on the cellphone conversation he had
with the pick up driver. He left at 4 a.m. from the place where he was coming from saying he
was on his way to Dumaguete. He texted his distance to Dumaguete),” said Entoma.
Investigators are still establishing the motive of the retired and active policeman in killing the
broad caster, whether it was personal to them, work related or somebody hired them to do the
killing.
