Proposal:
My idea for my short film is based around a couple, the genre of my short film will be romance. The
short film will start off with both of them on a train, where they both look at each other and make
eye-contact with each other and smile at each other, when the boy gets off the train he leaves a
book filled with places he’s been to in London which are also places he likes to visit frequently. The
girl sees that he’s left the book and tries to give it to him as he leaves but it’s too late, so she decides
to take the book and look through it for clues on how she can give the book back to him. She
recognises all the places in his book and decides to go to each place and leave a note for him to find
and read and follow like a clue to each place like a hunt. He realises he’s lost his book and
remembers the last place he went to which was one that was in the book where he finds the clue
she left for him to read, at first he finds it weird that he finds a note instead of his book but then
sees the opportunity to find this mystery girl that has his book, he continues following the clues and
at the last clue he finds her standing there holding his book in her hand, when they hug each other
and walk off together.
The reason I am creating this music video is for the “Be Creative” competition, the winner will also
receive £50 as a reward. The winner will not also be chosen on how good their production is but by
how it looks, if the locations worked well with the narrative and how the shot are edited to show the
audience what’s going on and most importantly if the narrative is shown throughout the film and if
the narrative is clear to the audience. To ensure that my short film shows all these things I will be
using different effects on my camera such as ‘fluorescent’ to change the colour of the shot and not
just using auto for the entire video, I will also be colour grading a few shots to show the audience the
atmosphere of the shot based on how it looks in the audience’s minds. I will also be adding in sound
to make the short film more realistic as there won’t be any dialogue throughout the short film. The
target audience for my short film is 25-40-year olds and the final deadline where everything will
have to be submitted is the 28th November, the festival where all productions will be shown will be
on the 9th December.
From the responses of my surveys most of the responses said that they’d watch short films on
‘YouTube’ as well as ‘vimeo’ which is where I will be sharing my music video as it’s the biggest
platform out there as well as social media platforms such as ‘Facebook’, although I will not be
sharing my short film on Facebook as I don’t have that platform I will only be using YouTube as my
main platform.
