Responsibilities

Graduate in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with minimum of 8 years experience in a large


power plant. Candidate with BOE (Boiler Operation engineer) certificate, PG Diploma from NPTI
(National Power Training Institute) are preferable. Essential: 8 to 10 years in O&M - with at least two
years as shift charge engineer in a Gas based or coal based thermal power station of at least 200
MW capacity. Good communication skill in English is desired. Key Result Areas & Outcomes
expected from the Role Will be in charge for 200/460 MW) operation of power plant, Safe Start-up &
Shutdown of the plant, Communication with external costumers (APTRANSCO, APDSICOMs, RIL,
RGTIL & GAIL), Ability for individual decision making in case of any emergencies, Monitoring and
report to operations manager in case of any deviation in plant operations, Coordinate with all other
department activities that are related to plant operations during the shift and comply with safety rules
and regulations, Monitor the overall status of the plant and summarize activities in the log book. Fill
daily plant status reports and relay all activities that occurred during his shift, Administration of daily
gas requirement for the plant with the gas suppliers, Ability to suggest solutions for key plant issues
and contribute towards continual improvement, Prepare incident / accident reports and other reports
required by the departments, Comply with Permit to Work system practices as per standard
procedures Training of subordinates in shift operations.

supervisors and operators; completing troubleshooting procedures.

limitations; monitoring unit performance.

 Organising routine servicing schedules


 Allocating work to a team of fitters
 Checking and calibrating instruments to make sure they are accurate
 Fitting new parts
 Carrying out quality inspections
 Responding immediately to equipment breakdowns
 Fixing faults or arranging for replacements to be installed
 Keeping production managers informed of progress
 Organising teams to make sure 24-hour cover is available

As a fitter, you'll service and repair the equipment. You could work
on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic or computerised systems.
Again, your job will involve either preventative or emergency maintenance. You're likely
to be:

 Making scheduled checks on machinery and parts


 Finding and fixing faults and recalibrating instruments
 Oiling and cleaning machinery and parts
 Overhauling and replacing parts according to schedule
 Responding immediately to machinery breakdowns

8. Should be able to foresee and diagnose the startup faults and take remedial action to resume
for normal operation.
