I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the discussion, the students are expected to:
a. know the different verbal cues through the discussion;
b. give importance to the verbal cues in communication through the voice exercises; and
c. use appropriate expressions by reading a short story.
II. CONTENT
Using Verbal and Nonverbal cues for effective and engaging communication
A. Prior Knowledge
1. Communication is the act of transferring information from one place to another.
2. Verbal Cue is a prompt that is conveyed in spoken language from one person to
another or a group of people.
3. Nonverbal Cues are body movements, body orientation, nuances of the voice,
facial expressions, details of dress, and choice and movement of objects that
communicate.
B. New Knowledge
1. Pitch refers to the highness and lowness of the voice.
2. Tone refers to the emotional content carried by the voices.
3. Volume refers to the loudness and softness of the voice.
4. Rate refers to the speaking pace of the voice, how fast, moderate and slow.

A. INTRODUCTION

about the nonverbal cues.
So what are the different nonverbal
cues again?
