1.0 TOPIC
Civil Engineering Structures

2.0 TASK

Students are required to answer the following questions from the observations of the site
visit to Colombo Port City Project.

1. Write a brief description about the project

2. Identify the construction equipment used in the site? State under each category (Boring
Machines, Transporting Machines, Concreting, Lifting etc.)
3. Identify the construction methods and technologies used in the site? State under each
category (Piling, Earth compaction, Bridge Construction and Breakwater Construction)
4. Identify the possible adverse impact on the natural environment due to construction of port
city project and suggest mitigation measures to reduce identified environmental impacts

3.0 METHOD

Students shall work in groups having a maximum of four (04) members per group. The
document shall be word processed and need to be uploaded to Moodle.
