Several people make use of the presentation software while giving presentations, some examples
are as follows.
(i) Sales persons need to give presentation to their customers clients and managers.
(ii)Human Resource departments use the presentation to provide training to new staff.
(iii)In schools, teachers can better explain concepts by the means of presentation.
(iv)Students also create presentation on topic given by their teachers.
(v)The presentation software is mostly used during seminars, conferences. This helps the presenter easily
project his key points on a large screen while talking about the topic simultaneously.

3.Define the Slide Sorter view and its significance.


In impress, the slide sorter view refers to a view that shows thumbnail version of all your slides
arranged in horizontal rows. Using this view, the user can easily arrange the order of slides create
duplicate slides, and also delete them.

4.What is a Normal view? Explain.


The normal view is the typical view used for creating and viewing presentation slides. This view
also known as slide view and offers a full size view of a slide, making it easier to create and edit slides,
(or) It is the main view for creating individual slides. Use this view to format and design slides and to add
text, graphics and animation effects.

5.How are transition effects helpful in creating an effective presentation in Impress?


Transition effects are special effects that play when the user view a presentation in slide show. In
other words, it appear after vanish is of the current slide and before the appearance of the next slide.
These effects are used to enhance the initial appearance of the slides.

1.Valarmathi’s teacher asks her to create a presentation in Open Office Impress. As Valarmathi has
never worked in Impress before, help her to perform the following tasks
a) She wants that except for the first slide, all the slides should have the same design. For this, what
does she need to do?
b)To easily communicate with her audience, she wants to provide them with a hard copy of the
slides of the presentation. What should she create for it?
c)She wants to insert some pictures and movie files in some slides. How can she do that?
d)Suggest her the view that would be the most suitable for showing the presentation to the
audience.
e)To make her presentation more attractive, she wants to add some effects in it. How can she do it'
Suggest.
a) Valarmathi needs to manually change the slid design of each slide by clicking format  slid design
from the menu bar. After this, the slid design Dialog box appears. From this dialog; box, click the load
button to load more slid designs. The load design dialog box appears Select the presentation.
Backgrounds option from the categories list box and its relation option shown in the name list box. After
these' options are selected, click the OK button ti close the load slide design dialog box. The slide design
dialog .box reappears, then click OK to close it. The selected slide design is applied it the selected slide.
Do the above to apply the slide design to other slides.

2.Explain how a presentation can help a sale person to promote his/her products.
For a sales person, a presentation plays a key role as it helps in promotion business and increasing
the sale of products. Sales person needs to give presentation to their customers, clients and managers.
Using the presentation software, they can better convey their ideas and product details to customers as
well as performance related facts and figures to managers.

3.Sivabalan created a presentation to be shown at his school’s Annual Function. Just 5 minutes
before the presentation, he noticed that he has misspelt the name of the school, which is appearing
in all the 30 slides of the presentation. How can he rectify this mistake in all the slides in one-shot?
The slide master will be helpful in this situation. She needs to rectify the mistake in the slide
master.
The change will be reflected in all the slides of her presentation.

4. List some advantages of using templates.


(i) Professional Graphic Design : Even the user don't have graphic design experience, they know how to
make adjustments to existing graphics
(ii)Branding : Templates can easily be modified by changing colors, fonts, graphics etc.
(iii)Speed : With a good starting point in each slide the presentation is made in a snap.
(iv)Quick customization : It's much easier to edit the template in its original form, not as a copy of a
copy.
(v)Consistency : A consistent design scheme will avoid Jarring transitions and sneaking suspicion that
the presentation was pasted together , as a vansom note.
