year’s Academy Awards. There was a lot to take in, from the riveting war scenes in “The Hurt
Locker” to the tender animated antics in “Up,” where an 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer and a
bunch of helium balloons inadvertently hijack an elderly widower. No wonder judges had diffi-
culty narrowing the field. Every one’s a winner.
