SHARK TANK GUIDELINES

The following are some guidelines you might find useful when preparing your investment proposal
presentation:

 The evaluators want to see how you support your ideas as well as your ability to make
projections about the future state of your business. It is not about having people that
speak a lot and without a solid foundation. You must be clear, concise, and right to the
point. You will have to build an initial well focused pitch that is able to present:
o What are you proposing?: Present your project. Describe the product and why
people would buy your product. Show the benefits your product offers. Include
the capacity of the process and the target market.
o Show the technical viability of your project: Present a short summary of your
process and the most important deliverables of your design. Remark what are the
advantages of your design.
o Show the economic viability of your project. Present the economic analysis,
cashflow, total investment requirements. Present some indicators like ROI among
others will be useful.
o Conclusion: Finally invite to the panel to be the investor of your project with a
conclusion.

 Try to avoid phrases such as “I (we) believe that…” or “I (we) think that…” without having
strong argument, or guided by feelings or even worst, thinking that speaking a lot can help
you get more funding. We insist: “…right to the point…” or “short and sweet”
 The structure of your presentation is:
o 5-8 minutes to present your ideas and state clearly what you want for your project
(initial well-focused pitch).
o 15-20 min for questions from the evaluation team. Each evaluator will focus
his/her questions to a specific member. Therefore, everybody must be able to
answer any question.
 When answering the questions, you can support yourself in previously prepared slides.
These slides also have to be very specific. (The usual formulated questions are focused on
the economical evaluation of your project, product benefits and some competency
analysis, among others)
 Your presentation must have a maximum of 10 slides.
 The activity will be developed on Wednesday 20th November 2019 from 09:00 am to
12:00 pm. The selection will be made randomly.
 The use of mobile phones during the activity is strictly forbidden
 Your team will help in evaluating other proposed designs.
 The activity location will be announced later.
 Remember… be prepared to answer any question related to your project (this includes
technical, social, economic, environmental, among others)

Thank you very much for your attention and Good Luck!
