In his documentary Capitalism, Moore produces, scripts and acts in this satire and funny
comedy where an "invasion" is created by Europe to find solutions that can be applied
to the internal problems of the United States. The countries covered in the documentary
are: Italy, France, Finland, Slovenia, Germany, Portugal, Norway, Tunisia and Iceland.
The essence of us South Americans is to be occupied with what the United States does
and we overlook the great examples, methodologies and strategies applied by the great
powers of Europe such as Italy, France and Germany. It also shows us the clear example
of countries that are not so strong in their development and how they apply good
Moore visits Finland to conquer the excellent educational system; France to appreciate
the importance of good nutrition in primary education; Iceland to learn about the
important role of women in society; Germany to adopt the capacity for self-criticism
and not forgetting one's mistakes; Italy to learn to enjoy life; Portugal to see the action
of a more humane police and a freer society; Slovenia to see the benefits of a free
university for all; or Tunisia to see how to carry out a revolution and not get lost along
the way.
We lack the idea that these methodologies, strategies and systems applied by these
countries can be imported into our environment in a great way that makes us grow as a
country; there are very serious issues and proven efficiency such as modern educational
methods, gender equity, school feeding, prison systems and others. Moore appropriates
what works to take it to his country, this would be very good for our country Colombia.
