CLASSROOM PROCEDURES

Arrival
Students will use the restroom before their parents drop them off in the
classroom. Students will hang their coats and backpacks out in the hallway on the
appropriate hooks. Naptime belongings and extra clothing will be stored in the
lockers in the classroom. Any materials from home will be given back to the parent
or placed in the student’s mailbox. Parents will use the sign-in and out sheet for their
child’s attendance.

Lining up
There will be several times during the day where students will be required to
line up. Students will line up against the lockers in a single file line when the teacher
tells them. Teachers will encourage the students to stay in a line and to be quiet
when walking down the hallway.

Transitions
During classroom learning time, there will be times where students will need
to transition to different activities/centers. The classroom will be called to attention
by saying “Everybody freeze!”. Students will freeze in their centers and listen to the
directions the teacher calls out. Students will then follow through the directions.

Departure
When a student’s parent arrives, students will retrieve any papers sent home
out of their mailbox. They will retrieve any personal items necessary out of their
lockers, as well as grab their coats and bookbags in the hallway. Parents will use
the sign-in and out sheet for their child’s attendance.
Fire Drills/Emergencies
Fire drills are to be conducted once a month per state law. Students will
recognize when the fire alarm is going off and immediately line up by the lockers.
They will stay together in a single file line and follow their teacher to the
designated safe zone.

Restroom
There will be several opportunities provided during class for students to use
the restroom. Students are expected to try to go to the bathroom, regardless of if
they feel they need to or not. If an emergent situation arises, the student will be
escorted to the bathroom by a teacher. The teacher will also follow proper state
guidelines on ratio.

Classroom Job
Classroom jobs will be given at the teacher’s discretion. They will be picked
daily to allow all students an opportunity to have a job. This will provide a
classroom community atmosphere, as well as alleviate work for the teacher.

Clean Up
Students are expected to clean up when the teacher indicates. Students will
place materials back in the correct containers and place them on the shelf. Students
will also hear a designated clean up song to indicate it is time to clean up.
