answered the second duck, but first let’s say goodbye to our friend, the turtle.
When they told the turtle they were going to leave, he said, “I’ll die here without any water and without any
friends. Take me with you.” The ducks answered,” We can’t. We are going to fly, and you have no wings.” The turtle
thought for a minutes and then said, “please wait here.” Then he went a way and found a strong, straight stick. He brought it
back to his fiends, put the middle of it in his mouth and said,” Now if each of you takes me ones end of the stick in his
mouth, you can lift me up and carry me with you.”
“There is one danger,’ said the ducks,” If you try to talk while we’re carrying you through the air, you won’t be
able to hold the stick, so you we’ll fall dawn along way and break your shell”
“All right,” answered the turtle,” I promise not to talk while we’re in the air. So the ducks took the stick and flew
away, with the turtle between them. All went well until they were flying over a town. Then some people saw them and
shouted,” look, those ducks are carrying a cat!”

“furniture and house appliance” exhibition. It exhibited some modern furniture and house appliances. Although shopping

Nowadays, the police have been applying the new regulation concerning the use of seat belts. In European
countries, this regulation has been applied for a long time. However, this new regulation has become controversial and is an
interesting topic to discuss. Here are some of the arguments.
The use of seat belts has been proven to reduce the risk of injury or death in accidents. Seat belts have become
standard components in cars.
The research shows that most car accidents will cause any an injury to the head. Frequently, drivers or passengers
driving without seat belts die because of this. By wearing seat belts, the injury will not happen since the seat belts restrain
our body on the car seat when an accident happens.
Unfortunately, many cars, especially, the old ones, don’t have seat belts. This is because the traffic conditions in the
past were unlike the recent traffic condition. The designers of old cars didn’t consider a seat belt as important part. Besides,
the drivers wearing the seat belt will think that they are completely safe, so they may drive carelessly. They are safe, indeed,
but how about the safety of others?
The seat belt is the only one of the ways to reduce the risks of car accidents. It doesn’t mean that we are completely
safe. In short, our safety depends on ourselves.
Chimpanzees use a system of different sounds to communicate with each other. One type of cry seems to mean
something like danger in the air or big birds and another apparently means danger on the ground or snakes. The first cry
causes them to hide in holes or under trees and look up the sky. When they hear the second cry, they hide in the upper
branches of trees nervously at the grass.
Chimpanzees are capable of learning sign language. One chimp called Washoe learned to make about 160 separate
signs meaning things like “give me a rink” and “banana”. Washoe even learned to swear. She had a teacher called Jack who
once refused to give her a drink. Washoe got angry and used several signs which meant “dirty Jack”.
A group of chimps at a research institute in Atlanta, Georgia, has recently been taught to type sentences using a computer.
The chimps’ trainer was called, Tim, and he kept correcting the mistakes made by one of the chimps. The chimp obviously
wanted Tim to stop correcting him and typed out the following request “Tim, please leave this room.”

47. “And another apparently means danger on the ground _____” (Paragraph 1).
The underlined word means ______
a. precisely
b. thoroughly
c. obviously
d. approximately
e. completely
