Activity 4: What are the factors that Affect Solubility?


Objectives:
 Identify factors affecting solubility.
 Explain how the different factors affect solubility.
 Cooperate with the group.
Materials:
 2 disposable cups
 Beaker
 Teaspoon
 Stirrer
 Sugar
 Water ( hot and cold )
Procedures:
1. Label each cup A and B.
2. Pour 50 ml of hot water in cup A and cold water in cup B.
3. Put 1 teaspoon of sugar in each cup.
4. Stir each solution rapidly in 1 min.
5. Write your observation.

b. How does it affect the solubility?

Procedures:
1. Label each cup A and B.
2. Pour 50 ml of tap water in both cup A and B.
3. Put 1 teaspoon of sugar in each cup.
4. Stir both solutions simultaneously in 1 min but the first one is rapidly and the second one is
slowly.
5. Write your observation.

 Tap water

2. Pour 50 ml of tap water in both cup A and B.
3. Put 1 teaspoon of rock salt in cup A and 1 teaspoon of iodized salt in cup B.
4. Stir each solution rapidly in 1 min.
5. Write your observation.

 Tap water
Procedures:

3. Put the marie biscuit in cup A and sky flakes in cup B.
4. Stir each solution rapidly in 1 min.
5. Write your observation.
