NAME:

STD Awareness Project

GOAL:

To contribute to improving young peoples’ awareness on Sexually

Transmitted Disease (STD). To help the youth make good decisions

about their health.

PROJECT SUMMARY:

The mandate of this proposal is to give information to students in the

university that will help them make healthy decisions for themselves and

their families. Awareness programs are not just for the benefit of the

students, but also for the benefit of their families and the entire

community. This project will be possible with the help and cooperation
of the university, health centers, and even the local government.

The objectives and activities of this project are:

Objective 1: Help prevent the spread of Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

Activities:

 Hold a university workshop about the measures and risks of acquiring

STDs.

 Develop public service announcements.

Objective 2: Understand what life is like for people infected with Sexual

Transmitted Diseases.

Activities:

 Develop and distribute a learning resource.

 Write and perform a university play.

The expected results of this project are:

 More youth will know more about the ways to help prevent the

spread of Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

 Youth will have a better understanding about the reality especially

for people infected with such Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

The tools that will be used to measure the results of the project include

workshop attendance and evaluations, feedback from youth, organizers,

sponsors, and project records.

The project will produce:

 A resource about the STDs.

 A workshop for youth about the safe practices, measures, and risks

of acquiring STDs.

 A university play about STDs written and performed by the students

themselves.

 Public service announcements written by students eith regard to

STDs.

The project results will be disseminated through a written evaluation. It

will be given to all contributors in the project.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The overall goal of this project will help the youth make good decisions

about their health. This will also help the parents to give proper

guidance to their children. This project is for the whole community but

mostly focuses on the youth. As we know, in today's generation, youth

are becoming more liberal regarding decisions the make in their daily

lives. STD is one subject that needs to be talked about in the society. In

connection to this, youth do not have an understanding of how these

STDs can affect their lives. This project is essential in the university as

more and more youth are being diagnosed with STDs in our

communities.

Our target audience is essentially everyone in the community. Mostly,

this project focuses more on the youth.

Our activities for this project are:

1. Hold a university workshop about the measures and risks of

acquiring STDs. In this activity, health personnels will be invited to

deliver this workshop. 2 persons afflicted with STD will also be asked

to share his experience with the audience. The 1-day workshop will

be held in the university premise. This will be open to everyone

interested in the community. However, it must be compulsory to

 university students to attend such workshop. Food and certificates

will be provided to attendees in this project workshop.

2. Develop public service announcements. In this activity, public service

announcements will be initiated and writtend by the students taking

up communication-related course. Such public service

announcements will be disseminated through the whole university

campus, through the entire city with the help of the local city officials,

and through social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram,

and Twitter.

3. Develop and distribute a learning resource. In this activity, the

resource will be given to the participants in the workshop and to the

contributors and organizers of this project. The resource will have

information, stories, and handouts for the students. It will provide

university teachers with a resource that can be handy in the

classroom.

4. Write and perform a university play. In this activity, this will be mostly

possible with the cooperation of the theater clubs or aspiring actors

in the university campus. Students will be highly recommended to

write the play, acting in the play and stage managing. This is a great

way to engage the youth in developing something positive and

informative in the community.

NEED FOR THE PROJECT:

For this project to pursue, the utmost cooperation and participation of

the local community health personnels, university teachers and student,

local city officials, especially the youth's will be needed. Youth need to

be provided with good information appropriate to our culture with

regard to the measures and risks of acquiring STDs. The youth also need

to better understand the consequences of risky decisions.
