Abstract

INTRODUCTION

In today’s this generation, technology is considered as one of the most powerful

tool in our society. The advent of networking has change the way people live especially
in the field of communication. Networking change and improve at a rapid pace and
institutions need to cope up with it.

Local area network is the most common and popular network in the field of
networking. A local area network consist of computers and peripherals that share a
common communications line or wireless link to a server. Commonly use in school,
home and in offices this type of network is not widely network it is the smallest network
among others.

In many situations, a wireless LAN, may be preferable to a wired LAN

connection because of its flexibility and cost. Companies assessing WLANs as primary
means of connectivity often have users who rely exclusively on smartphones, tablets and
other mobile devices to do. The rise of virtualization has also fuelled the development of
virtual LANs, which allows network administrator to logical group network nodes and
partition their networks without the need for major infrastructure changes, according to
(Thomas Willingham &Christopher Chapman, 2000).

In Kabankalan Catholic College setting when sharing of files from high school
faculty to accounting office is trough flash drive only. The Kabankalan Catholic College
has a system called financial formation management system that is currently serving its
purpose. The researchers has another idea to this system to improve its functionality and
services that is why the researchers conduct this research study to give a local area
network connection from the Registrar Office up to High School Faculty to make it easier
faster and improve their service when it comes in sharing files.
General Objective

To install a Local area network connection using networking tool and devices
from accounting office to Kabankalan Catholic College high school department.

Specific Objective

1. To provide KCC high school faculty and registrar office a network based file sharing
set-up.

2. To provide a secure and manageable local area network that would connect each
department.

3. To install a durable and easy to manage networking set-up from Registrar office to
KCC high school faculty.

Statement of the Problem

This research study aims to;

1.
2.
3.

Hypothesis

The strength of the signal depends on the length of the wire. The shorter the wire
the faster the signal is, the longer the wire the slower the signal is.
Significance of the Study

This study will be able to help the following;

School administrator. This study help them in assessing the performance of the local
area network connection and determining the satisfaction of their stakeholders in
processing there accounts.

Registrar office. This study help them to improve their service provided for the
stakeholders.

High school faculties. This study help them to make it easier and faster when it comes to
submitting files to accounting instead of making hard copy they can easily forward their
accounts.

High school department students. This study may help the CSS students to improve
their service, make it easier and reliable.

Future researchers. This study may contribute information, knowledge, and ideas to
future researchers as they conduct a related study.

Scope and Limitation

This study is applicable in KCC high school department to accounting office

school year, 2019-2020 for the purpose of giving or providing a connection to those
person who are using computer. The scope of the study focused on making a local area
network connection from accounting office to faculty and high school department. The
study gives a connection access to the administrator of high school department and to the
Computer System Servicing (CSS) teachers and for those future researchers for the
school.

The proposed network based on the wants and needs of the school, this system provide
users exceptional service with regards to the system activity. Limitation is only the
facilitators, administrators, CSS students, and future researchers of Kabankalan Catholic
College not for all student.

Definition of Terms (ALPHABETICAL)

Networking in this study, networking also known as computer networking, is the

practice of transporting and exchanging data between nodes over a shared medium in an
information system (Margaret Rouse, 2018)

LAN stands for local area network. A LAN is a group of computers and devices
that are in specific location. The devices connect to the LAN with an Ethernet cable or
through Wi-Fi. Your home may have a LAN. If you’re PC, tablet, smart TV, and wireless
printer connect through your Wi-Fi, these connected devices are part of your LAN. Only
devices that you authorize have access to your LAN (Coletta Teske, 2019)

Local area network (LAN), any communication network for connecting

computers within a building or small group of buildings (David Hemmendinger, N.D.)

Automation not only eliminates the mundane work but take the errors out of
manual processes (Gleen O’Donnell, 2010).

Local Area Network is a group of computers and other devices that are connected
together over a network and are all in the same in location typically within a single
building an office or home (Brady Gravin, 2018).

Most Local area network are built with relatively inexpensive hardware such as
Ethernet cables, network adapters, and hubs. Wireless LAN and other more advance
LAN hardware options also exist, (Mitchelle, 2008).

The local area is categorized or either been a wired or wireless network depending
on the interconnection, (Hussani, 2001).

A local area network is a network that connects devices at a single location. This
is done to communicate, exchange data to integrate things and experiences (John Spacy,
2017).

Materials and Instrument

The following are the materials used in constructing the Propose local area network.
The materials are defined operationally based on their use in making the project.

Unshielded twisted pair (UTP Cable) –is a shorter way of saying unshielded twisted pair. This
is one of the least expensive wires and works for basic needs of phone systems so it is one of the
most commonly installed in residential industries. The twisted cable pairs work to cancel out EMI
(electromagnetic interference) from external sources. This would be interference from
electromagnetic radiation, ground water, pressure, root systems and more. It also cuts down on
crosstalk. Interestingly enough, UTP wire is accredited with being discovered by Alexander
Graham Bell.

Figure 1. Unshielded twisted pair (UTP Cable)

Switch – use to connect multiple host, to forwards a message to a specific host like a
bridge it also uses the same forwarding or filtering logic on each port, to manage traffic
either coming into or existing the network and can connect devices like computers and
access points with ease, to keep electrical signal undistorted to regenerates an undistorted
square electrical signal and to increase LAN bandwidth because it divides a LAN into

multiple collision domains.

Router – use to build the map of the network in the form of the routing table, through this
two way the dynamic routing protocols routers will let other devices know about not only
the topology of the network but also about network changes and the other ways is static
routing will be that static and will not adopt to network changes.

RJ45 –which incidentally stands for registered jack 45, is the ubiquitous Ethernet style
data port found on switches, routers and network cards. The RJ45 style connectors
and ports are also commonly found on Ethernet, serial and ATM IMA cards and

interfaces.

Gloves – are used to protect hands

Polyvinyl chloride- used as a passage way of cable and to protect the cable

Clamps – are used to hold PVC pipes

Heat gun – used to bend the pipes

Hack saw – used to cut the pipes

Pliers – used to cut the unshielded twisted pair cable

Network tester – used to test the network of the cable
