Abstract:

Introductions : HIV cases in housewives are still a problem in Indonesia. This affects of pregnant women with HIV who will
give birth, however HIV examination in pregnant women should be done. One of the factors which influence
pregnant women to do HIV examination is the level of knowledge of the pregnant women.The aim of this study
this was to identify the factors associated with knowledge of pregnant women on HIV examination.

Figures and experimental setup : This research employed analytic, cross-sectional design and conducted in Public
Health Centre (PHC) II South Denpasar. The population of this study was 240
pregnant women who visited the PHC. There were 75 pregnant women involved in
this study which were selected through consecutive sampling. A self-developed
questionnaire was used to collect the data and a self-administered questionnaire was
completed by all respondents. The data were analyzed by using Spearman Rho.

Content : The results showed that 70.7% of pregnant women in PHC II South Denpasar had less knowledge on HIV
examination. It was also found that there was a correlation among education 1, age2, social-economic3,
experience4 and the level of knowledge of pregnant women on HIV examination (ρ value <0,001, 0,002, <0,001,
and 0,010).

Conclusion : The PHC II South Denpasar is expected to increase the frequency of counselling meeting for pregnant women.
