Materials and tools

! Yarn:
- Grey color for the main parts - any moderately fluffy yarn. I used 50 g of “Kid Royal” by Alize (Lace,
62% Mohair, 38% Nylon (Polyamide); 250 meters/25 grams) working in 2 strands.
- Black color for the ears, the tail and the limbs - any moderately fluffy yarn. I used small amount of
“Kid Royal” by Alize (Lace, 62% Mohair, 38% Nylon (Polyamide); 250 meters/25 grams) working in
2 strands.
! Crochet hook. I used 1.75 mm (approximately US steel hook 6, UK steel hook 3 ½).
! Small amount of white polymer clay for the white of the eyes.
! Two small black beads for the pupils of the eyes or safety eyes. I used 1 mm in diameter.
! Any stuffing.
! Single core copper electrical wire 1 mm diameter for the arms, legs and tail. I used
approximately 100 cm (approximately 40 inches) 1 mm in diameter. Use only copper wire for the
frame as copper can better stand bending compared to aluminum. You can buy it at electric supplies
stores.
! Tapestry needle.
! Strong thread for tightenings.
! Transparent glue.
! Coarse needle for felting.
! Small amount of grey wool for felting for the mouth.
! Any material for tinting (you will need dark grey color).
! Velcro or brush for brushing up the toy.

Take your wire and make the wire frame as follows.

Run the wire throughout the body between Rnds 37 and 18. Adjust the wire so that the wire is at the
middle of the body.

Take one end of wire and insert it in its exit point back inside the body to pull out at the open part of the
body. You should end up with a loop for the arm. Make the same for the second wire end. Use pictures
below as a reference.

Fold the wire for the fingers as shown in the picture making concertina fold (also known as a zigzag fold).
Form the feet and the legs the same way you did for the hands and arms. Twist all fingers and toes and
then the limbs.

Put some glue at several places along the wire. Wind the yarn around the wire all the way up the hand.

Stuff the body with the neck being stuffed very firmly and the rest of the body firmly but not overstuffed.

Ears
Right ear
Work with black yarn.
Find the right position for the ears. I did it as follows. Count 7 sts to the right of the stitch marker at Rnd
23 and join yarn to that point. Ch 3 and secure the chain with a sl st at the same point where you joined
the yarn. You should end up with a loop. Work 7 sc along the loop working over the chain and not in the
stitches of the chain. Secure the yarn and weave in loose ends.

Left ear
Work the left ear the same way but your starting point will be 3 sts to the left of the stitch marker at Rnd
2.

Eyes
Make two balls using white polymer clay: one should be bigger than the other one.

Bake the eyes following the instructions for your polymer clay. Glue the pupils into the eyes. Glue the

eyes into the eye sockets.

Take a piece of grey wool for felting and roll a thin strap. Form a ring and felt it at the place where the
mouth is supposed to be. You can embroider the mouth instead using a rococo/bullion stitch.

Your Funny Raccoon is ready!
