1. SCOPE OF WORK

The scope of this method statement describes the procedures for Painting of
External outer part for Butane Tank ( T - 301)

2. JOB CHECKLIST

The following shall be checked before starting of work.

2.1. Check the availability of work permit.

2.2. Check the appropriate tools and equipment for the job and all are in good condition
and has valid certificates.

2.3. Ensure the competency of personnel to do the job and trained for working at heights.

4. LOCATION

The activity will be located at the LPG Refregerated Tanjung Sekong – Merak Bnaten.

5. WORK PROCEDURES

5.1. Preliminaries

a) The painting shall start after the Hydro-Pneumatic Testing and after the

installation of gondola.

b) Painting will be done on outer shell, roof, nozzle, manhole and accessories.

b) The personnel must check the availability of all tools and equipment required.

5.2. Work Sequence

5.2.1. Painting of Shell Plates

a) Locate the desired position on where to start the job.

b) Prepare all necessary painting equipment.

c) Tied the painting hose on the gondola by any means sufficient enough not to
fall down. Personnel must wear full body harness which is hook at the guard rail
gondola. Then, start on painting works.

5.2.2. Painting of Roof Plates

a) Painting shall start from top of roof dome going down will be provided.

b) Prepare all necessary painting equipment.

c) Tied the necessary hose by any means sufficient enough not to fall down.

d) Provide life line with rope grab where the full body harness is hooked to
prevent falling hazard.

e) Start painting on the top part of rope dome and stop upon reaching the
temporary platform. Remove temporary platform.

f) After removing the temporary platform continue on painting at the remaining


parts.

1. Provide necessary protection to avoid spread of garnet and over spray of paint

that will disturb other people who are working near the tank perimeter.

2. Ensure the air supplied to painting from air purifier filter prior to start the job.

6. KEY PERSONNEL

Site Manager – Over-all in charge of the site construction activities.

Tank Superintendent – Coordinate with the concerned supervisor, inspector and the
company's representative to carry out the job in safe manner.

Painting Supervisor – Responsible for the blasting/painting activity and closely


monitor the job in safe manner and coordinate with QC
inspector.
QA/QC Inspector - Responsible for ensuring the quality of the job which is as per
specification and standards applied. .

Painter – Will perform painting activity.

7. COORDINATION

a) The over-all responsible for the job will be the site manager.

b) The in-charge for the activity shall be the tank superintendent; he will coordinate
with the company representatives and his subordinates before and during operation.

c) In case of emergency cases, the tank superintendent will discuss with the site
manager and concerned personnel as well as the safety officer.

d) The tank superintendent will closely monitor the activity and recommends
precautionary safety measures if any unsafe act.

8. TOOLS and EQUIPMENT

8.1 Major Painting Equipment

a) All around gondola

b) Air compressor

c) Air receiver

d) Painting Pot

e) Airless spray paint pump with spray gun

f) Air purifier filter with painting hood

g) Paint mixer agitator

h) Air hoses

8.2 Safety Equipment

a) Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

b) Painting respirator

c) Painters cover all

d) Painting hood with purifier filter

e) Full body harness with two (2) lanyards and shock absorbers

f) Life line with rope grab

9. SAFETY RESPONSIBILITY

a) All personnel assign for blasting and painting must wear proper PPE and equipment.

b) Tool box talk shall be conducted by supervisor and safety officer to discuss the JHA

and proper execution of the method statement.

c) All equipment must be check prior to usage.

d) Check the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) of painting materials prior to start the
job.

e) Supervisor responsible for the job shall be at site during working hours.

f) Any incident/injury/near mess will be notified or report immediately to SSA HSE


management.

g) Ensure barricades on tank circumference.

10. JOB HAZZARD ANALYSIS (JHA) – See Attachment
