GUIDE TO
MARKETING
AND PROMOTION
GLOBAL SALES AND MARKETING
Discoverability
To ensure that your book gets the most visibility possible,
we make sure that your book’s homepage appears at the top
of the results list of appropriate online keyword searches.
The majority of visitors to Palgrave.com come from search
engines, and we are constantly fine-tuning the search
engine optimization of product pages and keyword search
functionalities.
You will also find any available Bookmetrix data – such as downloads, shares, and citations
on your book’s pages. Bookmetrix is a new and unique platform that Springer developed
in partnership with Altmetric. It offers a comprehensive overview of the reach, usage and
readership of your book or chapter by providing various book-level and chapter-level metrics all
in one place.
Be sure to feature the link to your book’s homepage in your email signature, on your own
website, in presentations, in your blog, in contributions to a forum or anywhere you find
opportunities to talk about your work!
eNewsletters
We routinely deploy subject-specific eNewsletters, presenting
Campaigns and
key titles from our eBook collections, new book series or
reference works, new services or new prizes, and conference eNewsletters
and event announcements.
Banner advertisement
The palgrave.com and SpringerLink platform offer the ability to highlight
key titles in banner advisements that can be uniquely targeted. Books can
be promoted accordingly so that the customer finds out about your book
while utilizing the websites.
Themed Campaigns
We work closely with our academic community and establish themed
campaigns by organizing academic events, inviting authors to submit blog
posts, and promoting key titles we publish.
Social Media
Social media marketing has become a vital part of our
marketing tactics and has proven to be an extremely
effective way of increasing product awareness and usage.
Palgrave Macmillan maintains social media channels to suit
every interest. Discover them here. We routinely discuss
books relevant to the various social media channels, and
encourage you to join the conversation as well.
Social media is ideal for promoting and spreading the word about new publications. All our
pages on palgrave.com and SpringerLink, as well as all our e-mailings and newsletters, display
social media sharing buttons allowing our audience to share product details and even individual
books and articles via their preferred social media network.
Social Media is constantly evolving, but we’ve created some dos and don’ts to help you get started.
Self-promotion is an important skill to master, and we’ve compiled some tips and best
practices to help guide you through the process.
