Paper No. : BC 5.3 (a)

The meeting for the above mentioned paper was held at …Satyawati College
(Eve)…on 28th July, 2017.... at …3 pm. The following guidelines were set in the
meeting with the consent of all teachers and the representative of Department
of Commerce, University of Delhi:
The following aspects were agreed upon so as to maintain uniformity in the
pattern of teaching at various colleges.
1. A tentative allocation of hours of teaching of various sections of the syllabus.
2. Pattern of expected question paper for the University Examination.
3. Industrial Visit/visit to promotional institutions for acquainting students on the
entrepreneurial processes and available support systems is to be considered as a vital
part of teaching. Such visit(s) shall form part of teaching hours.
4. A practical question on writing a business plan/preparation of a project Report should
be there in the University Exam. Accordingly teaching inputs should be taken care of.

The details of the distribution of teaching hours have been decided as per below:

Unit I: (a) Meaning, elements, determinants and importance of entrepreneurship,


(To be discussed in Indian context) 02 classes
(b) Entrepreneurship and creative response to the society’s problem and at work.
(Opportunities in the context of existing deficiencies in the society through examples can
be taught) 02 classes
(c) Entrepreneurial Challenges. (Sustainability, survival, acceptance, continuity, finance and
management challenges etc. can be discussed) 02 classes
(d) Dimensions of Entrepreneurship……….. 02 classes
Total Classes of Unit I … 08 to 10 Lect. Classes
Unit II: (a) MSME : Roles, Sectoral Configuration, recent Census results etc… 04 classes
(b) Concept of business houses and role of family business………………………… 06 classes
(c) Here, cases of family businesses, their philosophical, survival and strategy etc.
to be discussed in Indian context. 02 to 03 classes
(d) Entrepreneur as the Manager
(Explaining also how more of managerial talent leads to entrepreneurship.) 02 classes
Total classes of Unit II- 14 to 15 Classes
Unit III: (a) Public and Private system……support and sustainability of
Entrepreneurship. O2 classes
(b) Requirement, availability and access to finance, marketing assistance……. 02 classes
(c) Role of self help groups/entrepreneur’s associations (Examples of such organization eg.
Women entrepreneurs Association, Young entrepreneurs’ Asson. Etc. operating in India to be
discussed) 03 Classes
(d) Business Incubators, Angel investors, venture capital and private equity funds
(visit to NSIC, NIESBUD etc is suggested for first hand information on these sources and
support) 02 classes
Total classes of Unit III : 10 classes
Unit IV: (a) Business Plan Preparations: Feasibility study and writing a business plan.
(Here practical teaching as to how to write a business plan/project report is to be done.
Assignment to student on developing business ideas and preparation of project report should
form a thrust area of teaching) 03 classes
(b) Contents of a business plan………cases of preparing business plan 04 classes
(Detailed on contents of Business Plan is to be carried out through business cases)
(c) Project appraisal etc 03 classes
Total classes of Unit IV: 10 Classes
Unit V: (a) Mobilizing resources for start up……………. 03 classes
(b) Contract Management: Basic start up problems 02 classes
(c) Funding opportunities………….. 02 classes
Total classes of Unit V: 07 to 08 classes

The pattern of Question Paper was also discussed at length and the following framework was
suggested:
1. Five Questions covering all the five Units are to be framed.
2. Internal choices format shall be followed.
3. Two sets of short questions in the form of short notes shall also be there.
4. One practical question on writing a business plan/preparation of Project Report on
potential business is to be there in the QP.
In arriving at the above decisions the following faculty (members) of different colleges
participated in the deliberation.

The meeting was convened under the Convenorship of Dr. Shiba C. Panda, Satyawati College
(Eve) and Dr Ashish represented the Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Commerce.
Members expressed satisfaction on the deliberations of the contents of the subject and
appreciated the initiative of the Commerce Department and expressed sincere thanks to Dr.
Ashish for the interest shown by him throughout the deliberations.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the Convenor.
