Lesson Accomodations

The Digestive System 1.Gifted Child – have this child construct


another part of the digestive system using
materials within the classroom. This can
be the chewing, swallowing, stomach, or
waste part of the system.

2.Visually Impaired Child – place this child


at the front of the room. Provide them
with manipulatives. If available, allow
them to feel a real-life sized diagram of
the digestive system. Allow them to use
their hands (safely) and explore the
materials with their other senses.

3.ELL – provide this child with a list of the


new words used in the lesson or class in
their native language. To help build their
English, have them write a 2-3 sentence
summary of the digestive system.
Photosynthesis 1.Gifted Child – have this child try to
create an experiment where we could
discover chlorophyll and how we could see
the “green” from the plant on another
object.

2.Visually Impaired Child – place this child


at the front of the room. Provide them
with manipulatives. Allow them to use
their hands (safely) and explore the
materials with their other senses.

3.ELL – provide this child with a list of the


new words used in the lesson or class in
their native language. To help build their
English, have them write a 2-3 sentence
summary of Photosynthesis.
The Solar System 1.Gifted Child – have this child create a
diagram of the solar system. It must be
made with the materials that are in the
classroom.

2.Visually Impaired Child – place this child


at the front of the room. Provide them
with manipulatives. Allow them to use
their hands (safely) and explore the
materials with their other senses.

3.ELL – provide this child with a list of the


new words used in the lesson or class in
their native language. To help build their
English, have them write a 2-3 sentence
summary of The Solar System.
The Water Cycle 1.Gifted Child – have this child create
another part of the water cycle using the
materials available in the classroom.

2.Visually Impaired Child – place this child


at the front of the room. Provide them
with manipulatives. Allow them to use
their hands (safely) and explore the
materials with their other senses.

3.ELL – provide this child with a list of the


new words used in the lesson or class in
their native language. To help build their
English, have them write a 2-3 sentence
summary of The Water Cycle.
Transportation 1.Gifted Child – have this child research
one of the 5 modes of transportation.
Ask them why we need this mode for
human survival.

at the front of the room. Provide them
with manipulatives. Allow them to use
their hands (safely) and explore the
materials with their other senses.
3.ELL – provide this child with a list of the
new words used in the lesson or class in
