Given the Inspire Perspectives of Intra (what inspires me as a teacher) and Inter (what has shaped my
beliefs/values, practices, and professional knowledge), respond to the following prompts:
Intra:
• What is important to me as an inspired teacher? What are the important beliefs and values gained
R
from this class that inspire me (Affect)?
e
f
As an inspired teacher, it is important to me to stand firm on what I believe and to represent it throughout my
l
teaching career. I’ve seen many teachers draw away from core values that they had in their beginning of their
e
career. They were passionate about teaching and loved bringing their full potential to help their students
c
succeed. Unfortunately, many of them get comfortable and forget the purpose of why we wanted to teach. My
t
beliefs and values have become more rooted in me throughout the lessons that I’ve learned in this class. I
i
always want to walk into my classroom knowing that I’m a teacher of unique students. One of my main core
o
values is that all students are capable of excellence and success if we can help them set their minds to it.
n

• What specific actions have I learned about from this class that I can take to remain inspired (Behavior)?
I
n
I’ve learned about various methods for all types of challenges that students could bring into my classroom. The
s
UDL methods have transformed my teaching strategies. For example, every time I plan out lessons, asking
t
Why? What? and How? will ensure that my students will be fully engaged and will know the purpose of what
r
they will be doing. I have to make sure that my lessons lead my students to learn something relevant and can
apply it in real-life situations. u
c
• What are the important concepts, subjects, and/or knowledge gained from this class that have inspired
me as a teacher (Knowledge)? t
i
o
I have grown in my way of thinking towards my students. Patience, consistency, and good teaching strategies
n
will help me help those students that are in need. Building rapport with my students is key when teaching. If I
s
know the struggles of my students, I can address more of than throughout my lesson.

• When I think about inspiring my PK12 learners, what are the beliefs and values that will guide my decisions
and perspectives (Affect)?

Knowing that my students learn differently and each come with challenges of their own, I will be more strategic in my
teaching methods. This main value will lead me to create lessons that can meet the needs of my English learners,
autistic students, and students who have auditory, kinesthetic, or visual learning styles. I also believe that not because
they are different means that they can’t all collaborate and learn together. It is all about believing in them and making
them believe in themselves that they can do it.

• What are a few key teaching practices and/or strategies I plan to implement to inspire my learners/students
(Behavior)?

I plan to begin my lessons with a more fun approach. For example, I want to begin my lessons with a non-math related
topic discussion that can hook my students and then lead them to the math topic. I want to incorporate more
technology and hands-on activities where my students will be more active and collaborative.

• Considering what I have learned from this class, how will I know each learner is inspired to learn, wants to
contribute positively to our learning community, and is thriving in my class (Cognitions)?

Many students are tough individuals when you first meet them. They are usually quiet and don’t like to share much of
what they are thinking. My main goal to help my students succeed is to be able to make connections with them and for
them to make connections with other students. Once I can build that trust with them, I can then began helping them
contribute to the class discussions, activities, etc… Having constant checks for understanding can be one of the other
tools that will help me assess where my students are at. Creating fun, rich, and energetic lessons will really help my
students thrive in my classroom.
