Technical Remarks on Safety

This device complies with the safety regulations of
the standards and specifications listed in the "Techni-
cal Data" chapter.

Correct Use of the SCL/MCL 52/74/75/102/105 and the MCL 52/74/75/102/105

The SCL 52/74/75/102/105 (Single Cassette Loader) and
the MCL 52/74/75/102/105 (Multiple Cassette Loader)
are automatic loaders for offset printing plates and
must only be used for this purpose as described in the
customer documentation.
Do not place any objects or liquids on the device.
Ventilation outlets must be kept clear at all times.

Correct Use of the Cassettes and the Cassette Carrier

Please only use the cassette carrier to transport the
cassettes.
The handle at the front of the cassette is not designed
to carry the cassette but to push it into and pull it out
of the SCL 52/74/75/102/105 / MCL 52/74/75/102/105.
Warning: Full cassettes weigh up to 80 kg (SCL 52/74/

3 75) and 140 kg (SCL 102/105) respectively.

The cassette carrier transports the cassettes and must
only be used for this purpose as described in the cus-
tomer documentation. Do not use the cassette carrier
to transport other objects or persons.
The cassette carrier must not block any escape routes.
The cassette carrier is intended for use on an even
floor and may not left on sloping areas. If this is
unavoidable, it must be prevented from rolling away
by using blocks in addition to the brake.

SCL/MCL 52/74/75/102/105 – Operation VII

Before You Start ... ABC

General
The SCL 52/74/75/102/105 / MCL 52/74/75/102/105 may
only be installed by authorized service personnel. The
ambient conditions must be observed.
Warning: Unauthorized opening of of any parts of the

3 casing not specifically referred to in the operating

manual and inexpert repairs can lead to considerable
danger for the user.
Service work may only be performed by authorized
personnel trained for this purpose. The respective
accident prevention regulations must be observed at
all times.
Non-observance of accident prevention regulations
can lead to the loss of accident insurance cover.

Emergency Stop Switch (only with Prosetter 52/74/102)

All mechanical motions in the device are stopped
when the emergency switch is used. Use these
switches in cases of emergency only. They are located
on both sides of the Prosetter.

Power Switch with Emergency Stop Function (only with Suprasetter 75/105)
The SCL 52/74/75/102/105 / MCL 52/74/75/102/105 is
fully cut off from the power supply by the power
switch (red rotary switch).
The power switch (red rotary switch) triggers a four-
pole cut-off of the Suprasetter 75/105 and the SCL 52/
74/75/102/105 / MCL 52/74/75/102/105 from the power
supply. In an emergency, this power switch is used as
an emergency stop switch for the Suprasetter 75/105
and the SCL 52/74/75/102/105 / MCL 52/74/75/102/105.

VIII Edition May 2008

ABC Before You Start ...

On/Off button
The SCL 52/74/75/102/105 / MCL 52/74/75/102/105 is
only de-energized by the On/Off button on the Proset-
ter 52/74/102 / Suprasetter 75/105.
All plugs and sockets of the equipment units are to be
readily accessible, because you must unplug the
power cable to completely cut off all power to the
equipment (for example, in dangerous situations).
When connecting or disconnecting the power cable,
only ever hold the cable at the plug and make sure
that your hands are not wet. A damaged power cable
can cause leakage currents and electric shocks. Pro-
tect the power cable from being damaged. Never place
any heavy objects upon it and do not allow it to get
jammed.

Service and Maintenance

Service work may only be carried out by persons
authorized by Heidelberg.
The respective accident prevention regulations must
be observed at all times.
Warning: Never remove covers or any other parts of

3 the casing except for the work described in the "Ser-

vice and Maintenance" and "Troubleshooting" chap-
ters. When doing so, keep to the stipulated sequence
of operations.
Otherwise, you are in danger of suffering a fatal, elec-
tric shock.

SCL/MCL 52/74/75/102/105 – Operation IX

Before You Start ... ABC

Safety Loop
For your safety, the SCL 52/74/75/102/105 / MCL 52/74/
75/102/105 is equipped with a safety loop. All mechan-
ical motions are stopped if the safety loop is inter-
rupted, for example, by opening the side panel.
This safety system must never be bridged as otherwise
you are in danger of being crushed by the cassette
drive or fatally injured by an electric shock.

ABC Notes on Installation

2 Notes on Installation

Installing the Unit

The SCL 52/74/75/102/105 / MCL 52/74/75/102/105 may
only be installed by authorized service personnel. The
ambient conditions must be observed.
The device must be installed on an even and firm sur-
face.
Make sure that the device is installed at a sufficient
distance from walls and other objects to ensure ade-
quate ventilation and proper servicing.
Minimum clearances: see drawings at the end of
chapter Technical data.
The device should not be installed near air-condition-
ing equipment and must be protected from humidity
and direct sunlight.
Note: The initial installation is performed by service
2 personnel. This includes lifting the device off the pal-
let and removing the transport safeguards.
Warning: Make sure cables and hoses are installed in

3 such a way that there is no risk of tripping over them.

SCL/MCL 52/74/75/102/105 – Operation 2–1

Notes on Installation ABC

Recommendation for the Installation of the Online Processor

The online processor should be installed on the left
side of the SCL 52/74/75/102/105 as this gives optimal
access to the sections requiring servicing on the right
of the SCL 52/74/75/102/105.
The G&J Raptor and the Mitsubishi P-Alpha 880 (Eco)
processors can be installed on the right side of the
SCL 52/74/75/102/105 as only in a few rare cases does
the SCL 52/74/75/102/105 have to be separated from
the online processor and the Prosetter 52/74/102 /
Suprasetter 75/105.
The Agfa LP-82 processor cannot be set up on the right
as the SCL 52/74/75/102/105 must be separated from
the online processor for many types of servicing.

The devices may only be operated if a grounded con-
nector is connected.
In the USA and Canada, power supply cables must at
least comply with type SJT.
Warning: Connectors and outlets of the service line

3 must be easily accessible as the device has to be com-

pletely disconnected from the power supply by pull-
ing out the power connector, for example, in hazard-
ous situations. The in-house installation outlet must
be placed at least 60 cm above the ground.
Warning: The power supply remains unipolar when

3 the SCL 52/74/75/102/105 is switched off. For this rea-

son, always pull the top power connector to discon-
nect the power supply! The Prosetter 52/74/102 and
the SCL/MCL 52/74/75/102/105 are thus disconnected
