INTRINSICALLY SAFE VALVES

Electrically controlled, intrinsically safe directional control valves are intended to regulate the direction of hydraulic fluid (oil) flow in
hydraulic systems which require to be powered with intrinsically safe circuits, unable to cause an ignition in an environment with
potentially explosive atmosphere for group I or II, by creating a spark or thermal effect. To provide a distinction from the standard
hydraulic equipment, the “I” letter, preceding the product type was introduced.

The valves are ATEX certified for intrinsically safe applications and can be used with an intrinsically safe circuit “ia” or “ib” of a power
pack unit, suitable for the proper explosion group of a gas (max. parameters: Ui = 15 V, Ii = 1,6 A). For some of the elements (for the II
group of equipment), the intrinsically safe power unit should have a power limit Pi, in compliance with the technical specification table.

The intrinsically safe valves are intended (among other applications), for hydraulic systems which require to be powered with
intrinsically safe circuits:

• in underground part of mines and in some of their installations at the surface (certificate I M1 Ex ia I Ma), exposed to methane
and/or coal dust explosion
• in equipment and devices working near the flammable materials, such as: gases, vapours, mists, in compliance to the proper list
mentioned in the ATEX standard specification (certificates II 2G Ex ia IIB T4 Gb or II 2G Ex ia IIC T6/T5 Gb)

FLOW CONTROL VALVES
Flow control valves are designed to affect the speed of actuators by changing the cross-section of the fluid flow. The valves provide
variable (stepless) speed control of the actuator.

Flow control valves can be divided into:

• throttle valves – at the same cross-section of flow, the fluid flow rate changes due to pressure difference at the throttle point
• flow control regulators – regardless of the pressure difference at the inlet and outlet, at the same cross-section, fluid flow remains
unchanged

HYDRAULIC
CYLINDERS
HYDRAULIC CYLINDERS
Hydraulic cylinders convert the energy of pressure accumulated in the hydraulic fluid supplied to
the cylinder by putting the piston into reciprocating motion.

Hydraulic cylinders manufactured by PONAR Wadowice S.A. can be divided into two major groups:
• standard cylinders – manufactured in accordance with catalogue cards
• special versions – a modification of standard cylinders, or any other versions made upon specific
Customer’s requirements or provided documentation.

Overal and connection dimensions – for standard cylinders are specified in catalogue cards, for special versions, determined in technical
arrangements made with the Customer.

Nominal pressure – standard cylinders are designed for nominal pressure of 20 MPa. If requested, it is possible to manufacture cylinders
for nominal pressure of 25 MPa.

Operating medium – hydraulic oils are the basic operating media. On Customer’s request we can provide cylinders adjusted to work with
other media, e.g. HFA, HFB, HFC liquids.

Ambient temperature – standard cylinders are designed to work at the temperature from -25°C to +80°C. For special versions this
temperature range can be increased.

Sealing – we use seals of well-known and reliable companies, such as: Guarnitec, Kastas, Busak+Shamban. On Customer’s request we can
use different types of sealing, e.g. Merkel Hallite, etc.

Piston rods – the rods of standard cylinders are made of structural steel covered with a layer of technical chrome. On Customer’s request,
we can provide rods covered with nickel and technical chrome layer. It is possible to make rods of stainless steel, covered with technical
chrome. PONAR Wadowice S.A. provides cylinder rods up to 370 mm diameter, and on special request, up to 500 mm.

Bearings – depending on design, the cylinders can be equipped with swivel or spherical bearing (see catalogue cards). Special versions of
cylinders can be equipped with different types of swivel bearings, on Customer’s request.

Connection ports – standard cylinders are made with metric or inch connections. Special versions can have other outlets, if requested.

End position cushioning of the piston

Special versions of cylinders can be made with:

HYDRAULIC
CYLINDERS
• non-adjustable end position cushioning of the piston, performed by a suitably shaped trunnion
• adjustable end position cushioning of the piston, performed by means of a throttle valve
Supporting the movement of the piston from final position is provided by a check valve.
End position cushioning of the piston can be performed:
• from the bottom side of the cylinder
• from the side of the cylinder head
• from both sides of the cylinder
Additionally, the cylinders can be equipped with valves bleeding the air behind the piston.

Piston position sensors

The cylinders can be equipped with:
• sensors signalizing electrically final position of the piston
• linear sensor of piston position: the transducer provides an electrical signal containing information about the piston position

Coating – epoxide primer, colours: RAL 7001, layer thickness of 0,05 mm. On Customer’s request it is possible to use multi-layered paining
sets, including coating for marine or tropical applications.

Quality control – each of the manufactured cylinders undergoes acceptance tests at the dedicated testing stations:
• pressure test, at the pressure of 1,5 Pnom
• operating tests
The acceptance process is performed by the Quality Control Department in accordance with ISO procedures.

PONAR Wadowice S.A. provides warranty, post-warranty services and spare parts delivery.
