Abstract

Trade balance is one of the importance of current account balance.


Specially, in developing country such as Vietnam, the trade balance contains
a majority of current account balance. After fast-growing period prior to the
year 2000, for the last 10 years, the global economy and trade has been
encountering slow growth with many unpredictable changes that have great
impact on Viet Nam economy. In the context, international merchandise trade
can be considered as a lighting point in the picture of integration and socio-
economic development of Viet Nam from 2006 to 2015. Therefore, the
purpose and objectives of this essay highlight the main aspects regarding the
situation of trade balance in Vietnam since 2010. The essay includes the
information about trade balance: definition; how does trade balance work?
Type of trade balance. Which factors that balance of trade are affected by?
The importance of trade balance. The second part shows the situation of Trade
Balance in Vietnam since 2010 and gives
the measures to improve trade balance.

Conclusion

In general, Vietnam faced to trade deficit from 2010 to 2011 and to trade
surplus from 2011 to now and it is predicted that the trade balance would be
surplus in the near future. There are three main factors that affect to trade
balance are: import, export and exchange rate.
With more than 30 years of implementation of comprehensive socio-
economic reforms, the Vietnamese economy has achieved great achievements. In
particular, trade activities in export and import have had many positive changes
contributing to economic development of Vietnam. In this period, many
management policies of trade balance have been adjusted, supplemented and
completed, contributing to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state
management in these areas. However, along with the change in international context
and situation, the dramatic changes in domestic socio-economic development,
especially the development model transformation process, restructuring the
economy, increasing international integration, etc., have shown that there are lots of
challenges and constraints need to be improved to ensure our country's economy
continue to grow rapidly and sustainably in the years to come.
