Recently I hear people talking about GMO food. How they are produced? Do they look
different? How to recognize? Or if it’s safe to eat?
In this video, I will share with you the information that I’ve been researching from
different resources. Hopefully you can get some answers from my clip.

We can find GMO in the packaged food that we and our families eat every day such as
cereal, oven baked Doritos and other chips, and in crops such as corn, soy, cotton,
canola, potatoes, zucchini, yellow squash, and Hawaii Papaya…
But how much do you know about GMOs?
(Show in-text) “What is a GMO?”
GMO stands for Genetically Modified Organism.

(Graphics used) Voiceover

It refers to plants and animals to created using biotechnology that insert the genes from
one pieces into the DNA of another pieces.

There are different opinions about their potential harms and benefits to our health and
the environment. Let’s talk about the positive before we talk about the potential harms of
GMOs.

Have you ever seen the apples don’t brown when exposed to air or see how Salmon

Many people believe GMOs are beneficial and help to fight global hunger by making a
quicker and more profitable produce food. GMO crops are engineered to resist insects,
so farmers don’t have to use insecticides on them.

………However, by mixing genes from totally unrelated pieces and irrespective of the
type of genes that are inserted, “the process of creating a GM plant can result in
massive collateral damage that produces new toxins, allergens, carcinogens, and
nutritional deficiencies.” (Smith, J., 2011. 10 Reasons to Avoid GMOs).

Another concern is the weeds have been killed by using herbicides could build the
resistants to survive longer, that means the farmers have to use more and more
herbicides which will have negative effects on both human health and environment…….

If you decide you rather to be GMO free, there are ways to avoid them: stay away from
processed food, check the ingredients on labels, buy fresh groceries, or buy food that
marked with non-GMO, certified organic, or USDA organic labels. Organic food can’t
have any GMOs.

Thank you for watching my video. I hope you now have a better understanding about
GMOs food.
