DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SOCIAL DIMENSIONS OF EDUCATION

I. OBJECTIVES
 Illustrates the combination of object
 Differentiates permutation from combination of n objects taken r at a time
 Derives the formula for finding the number of combinations of n objects taken r at a
time
 Solves problems involving permutations and combinations
II. SUBJECT MATTER
 Combination

III. PROCEDURE
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY
A. DAILY ROUTINE
“Please pick up pieces of paper and arrange (Students will pick up pieces of paper and
your chair” arrange their char)

“Student A please lead the prayer” (Student A will lead the prayer)

“Now let us check your attendance”

B. REVIEW
“Okay let’s have a review, what was our (Student will recall the previous topic)
last topic about?”

“Do you have any questions about the (Students will ask for clarification on the
previous topic?” previous topic)

“Thank you, our last topic was permutation

and now we have a new topic which is
combination”

“I have here an activity that will give you

hints about our topic combination”

“Let’s say we have 3 fruits in the table (student will do the activity)
namely banana, mango, and papaya. You
can only eat 2 fruits out of the 3 fruits on
the table. How many combinations of fruit
can you eat at a time? Just a tip you can
easily solve this if you draw the fruit, you
can answer it on a scratch paper”
C. LESSON PROPER
“Based on the activity can somebody give (Students will give their opinion”
their opinion on what is combination all
about”

“Thank you for giving your opinion”

“Combination is a selection of items from a

collection, such that the order of selection
does not matter”

“To make you understand more about the (Student will answer the problem together
concept of combination I will give another with their teacher)
example and we will answer it together”

(Teacher will give an example on the board)

“I think you understand a little about (Student will answer the problems)
combination, now answer this 2 problems
about combination you can do this by pair”
“From the previous problem, did you (Students will share their opinion)
formulate a formula in solving the
problem or did you just solve it manually?”

“ The formula for combination is …”

(Teacher will post his visual aid”)

“Please read the definition everyone, Is (Student will read the definition)
there a difference between permutation
and combination Student B?”

“Thank you for sharing your idea”

“ The difference between permutation and

combination is that in permutation the
order matters while on the other hand in
combination the order does not matter”
D. GENERALIZATION
“Can you please summarize what you have (Student will summarize the topic for the day)
learned today student C”

“Can you share if what is the difference (Student will differentiate permutation and
between permutation and combination” combination”

“Can you apply combination in our daily (Students will share their idea on how to
life? If yes, how will you apply it? integrate combination in their daily life)

E. EVALUATION
I will give you 5 problems about our 2 previous topic the permutation and combination. Now answer
it in a 1 whole sheet of paper
F. ASSIGNMENT
Please research about union and intersection and write it in your notebook
