THE SCHOOL’S LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER
Name of FS Students: Arvin S. Ecot, Daisy Jane Engalan, Mae Anne Magdadaro
Course: Certificate in Professional Teaching (CPRT) Year & Section: FS 3PRT PRT2
Your Target
At the end of this activity, you will be competent in identifying and classifying resources that
facilitate teaching and learning processes.
Your Map
It will be an interesting journey to the world of educational technology. A chance to visit and
observe a learning resource center of a school will start you off.
For this process, explore the world through these steps:
1. Visit a school’s learning resource center. Look around and see what
resources and facilities are available inside.
Your Tools
As you visit and observe the learning resource center, use activity forms provided for you to
document your observations. Ask the assistance of the one manning the center courteously.
3. Examine how the materials are arranged and how they are classified. Are they free
from dust and moisture? Are they arranged for easy access?
5. Familiarize yourself with the guidelines and procedures. You may choose to take
photos of the center (if allowed).
Name of Observer: Arvin S. Ecot, Daisy Jane Engalan & Mae Anne Magdadaro
2. Do the guidelines and procedures facilitate easy access to the materials by the teachers?
Why? Why not?
With regards to the resources, teachers already had their own laptop to be used as instructional
materials, classroom had a TV attached to the wall so the teacher no longer need whatever
materials present in the learning resource center.
3. What are the strengths of this Learning Resource Center?
Through the efforts of the teachers, the main strength of the learning resource center is its
attractiveness to the students. A lot of books are arranged in shelf, which by themselves, serve as
learning materials to the students. The ICT resources are properly maintained as well.
1. Which material in the Learning Resource Center caught your interest the most? Why?
The computers are newly installed in the learning resource center. The screen is enough for the
students, and they can use it every time. We believe that they are very convenient for the
teachers. Creation of visual aids can be minimized since supplementary clips are available
online.
The time that they save by using these televisions, can be used in focusing on the students
learning. Likewise, it is convenient to use one Smart TV for a group of students, rather than
distributing 20-25 tablets for them.
This modern innovation is a good academic tool. This is the reason why more and more
classrooms are infusing this device in their everyday lessons. Learning should not be limited to
typical class discussions. Using Smart TVs promote better academic learning among students.

An Observation Guide for a BOARD DISPLAYS
1. Go around the school and examine the board displays. How many board displays do
you see?
2. Where are the display boards found? Are they in places where target viewers can
see them?
3. What are the displays about? What images and colors do you see? How are the
pieces of information arranged?
4. What materials were used in making the displays? Are boarders used?
5. Do you notice some errors? (misspelled words, grammar inconsistencies and the
like)
6. Are the messages clear and easily understood?
7. You may choose to take a photo of the display board (if allowed).
Name of the School Observed: MSU-IIT Integrated Developmental School
Name of Observer: Arvin S. Ecot, Daisy Jane Engalan & Mae Anne Magdadaro
Each department had a board display, but most of the bulletin board was attached outside
the Principal’s office. The total of the board are about ten bulletin boards. The boards are easily
to be found. Most of time announcements are displays in the bulletin boards. The materials used
are wood, to create a frame for the bulletin board, as well as glass used to cover the board. We
didn’t notice any errors of what they posted on it. The message are clear and easily understood
because they use an understandable English words or sentences.
From among the board displays that you saw, pick the one that you got mos interested in.
Evaluate it using the evaluation form below.

2. Was the language used clear and simple for the target audience to understand? Why?
Why not?
We believe that the teacher-in-charge avoided providing too much information. However, it
resulted to lack of information. The only thing that was provided was announcement and not
information. The language used is clear and simple.
3. What do you think was the purpose of the board display? Was it effective? Why? Why
not?
The purpose of the board display is to let the students know about the information of the school
they are enrolled. Maybe for the new enrolled student its effective because they will know whose
their teacher in charge and they will familiarize their faces.

Your Reflection
1. Name at least 5 skills that a teacher should have to be able to come up with effective board displays.
Elaborate on why each skill is needed.
a. Innovative: We believe that the teacher should try new things even if the topic
assigned for bulletin board display is old. The teacher should be able to produce
something fresh, new, different, and interesting that can capture the attention of the
students.
b. Resourceful: Not all schools provide everything for the set-up of bulletin boards.
Hence, a teacher should be able to deal skillfully despite the lack of resources.
c. Creative: There are an abundance of resources available over the Internet to
enhance the creativity of the teacher. Through creativity, the bulletin board can easily
capture the attention and the eyes of the students.
d. Tech-Equipped: It is important to be updated with resources that are available

learning process.
4. Reflect on your learnings.
Your Tools
As you observe the class, use the activity forms provided for you to document your observations.
Even though the teacher was only using the traditional board and pen teaching aid, the
students were eager to learn about the lesson. The teacher made sure that her writings and
illustrations on the board were clear to the students. The teacher doesn’t really need to use
high tech devices to catch the attention of the students as long as the teacher is effective in
teaching her lessons. The teacher had ways to maintain the level of attention of the class
thus making lesson more fun and interactive. At the end of the day, materials and other aids
could not replace a teacher because she can feel and understand what the students need to
learn.

least three benefits of doing a survey of available materials before
making your own materials? Explain each.
1. For us, doing the survey of available materials would save time and effort. Like
for example we are looking for a material and it is already available at a bookstore
so instead of making one we will just buy it.
2. Another benefit also is you can add new insights and details on your desired
material thus making it more original and expressing your own creativity.
3. Learning. As you do the survey, you will find new things and ideas probably
irrelevant to your material but maybe in the future these things and ideas will be
Your Reflection
1. Which of the materials did you like making the most? Why?
For us, the material that we would like to make the most is the PowerPoint
presentation because we can do a lot of things on it. We can put some video,
pictures and other styles and we can do a lot of customization. Most students love
PowerPoint presentation in class.
2. What difficulties, if any, did you encounter in making the materials? How did
you overwhelm them?
There was one instance one of our teacher ask us to do a mock-up of computer. It
was difficult because you need to do it with indigenous and crafting it was not easy.
We overcame it with patience and being resourceful enough.
3. What tips can you give teachers regarding preparation of teaching materials?
Make sure that the materials you are using is appropriate in the class instruction.
Prepare and test the materials before using it in the class. As much as possible, be
resourceful enough to save time and money and also try to use variety of materials
so that the class won't get bored.

With a lot of reflective thinking coupled with your creativity, you can design hand-outs that
will truly work well to make learning effective. You will see that preparing hand-outs is not just
any paper work. When you produce high quality and eventually try them out, you will discover
that, indeed, paper works! To reach your target, follow the steps below:
1. Prepare hand outs for a selected topic (i.e., flowcharts, schema, graphic
organizers).
Trigonometric Identities
Right Triangle
The Trigonometric Identities are equations that are true for Right Angled
Triangles.
We are soon going to be playing with all sorts of functions, but remember it all comes
back to that simple triangle with:
Angle θ
Hypotenuse
Adjacent
They are just the length of one side divided by another
Handouts
So we can say:
Cosecant, Secant and Cotangent
We can also divide "the other way around" (such as Adjacent/Opposite instead of
Opposite/Adjacent):
Cosecant Function:
csc(θ) = Hypotenuse / Opposite
Secant Function:
sec(θ) = Hypotenuse / Adjacent
Cotangent Function:
cot(θ) = Adjacent / Opposite

Your Analysis
A good handout must be concise and can be understood by the readers. There
must be subtitles that make it easier to read and the key words must be in bold type
in order to have an emphasis. The content must be easily recognized and it must be
sequence properly to avoid confusion. The content must have legibility.
The handout that was concise and comprehensive contained all the important
points of the presentation and sequenced the details properly to avoid
misconceptions.
There was a poor legibility on the handout. Didn’t use any subtitles because it
was not necessary.
Your Reflection
1. What difficulties, if any, did you encounter been making the handouts? How
did you overcome them?
The teacher must identify first her objectives and the purpose in making the
handout. Then he/she must conceptualize the flow and the content of the
handout by making an outline. The teacher must also read several references so
that the handout will be an informative tool for the students learning.

Observation Reflections
Since all of my observations were done with the different teacher. I will just
randomly select a day that the lesson I observed is still fresh to my mind. Most of the
time we are observing Ms. Arteta and Ms. Perez, a Filipino subject teacher. They are
very attentive to their students and facilitate their questions well. Bring humor to the
class because their class was scheduled afternoon and sleepy time. I enjoyed every
time they discussed because they are humorous.
When walking into the class for the first time I noticed that the students were
already had their examination last week and about to check their paper. Ms. Cuatro
was the teacher at that time, she will let the student read the question and answer it,
when the answer was revealed Ms. Cuatro try to discuss a little bit about the answer.
After checking of their paper Ms. Cuarto had her discussion about their English
lesson and afterwards she was trying to asses the students by giving short quiz.
November 5, 2019
This time we were observing Ms. Mendoza a math teacher, she was so intelligent
about her lesson, I believe she knows the lesson very well. I find it cool when she
delivered the lesson. She was so attainable to her students question, she facilitate it
well. I find the students really understand her discussion, when she gave evaluation
to them they got big score.
November 5, 2019
This time we were observing Mr. Galbinez, a MAPEH teacher, I believe he was
a christian because he started a class with a prayer. And let his student sing a song
that will be led by him. He was so kind to his students and cared for them also. I like
how he teach his student a good manner. He was also a cute one.
