Objectives:

To roll out of only proven AYUSH interventions for improving health status of the
Rameswaram population through AYUSH interventions, such as distribution of
medicines, organizing Health awareness camps.

Action plan:

We focus on the following components:-


(a) Management of communicable diseases from the list of communicable
diseases at Annexure – D.
1) Malaria
2) Chikungunya
3) Acute Diarrhea
4) Respiratory Tract Infection
5) Viral Hepatitis
6) Measles
7) Dengue
8) Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
9) Whooping Cough

(b) Management of Non-communicable diseases such as Nutrition and anemia


with special focus on adolescent girl and women of reproductive age group.

(c) School health programmes capacity building including Training of teachers,


for
proven AYUSH intervention for anaemic condition, malnutrition etc. for school
children.

Milestones:

(a). Establishment of AYUSH intervention centres and training and development


of material (handbooks, pamphlets, leaflets) for the purpose of
training to the AYUSH and Allopathic doctors on proven AYUSH interventions in
public health – 3 Months from the sanction of the project

(b). Distribution of medicines and organize free medical camps in Rameswaram


– Entire duration of the project
(c) AYUSH intervention shall be only for accepted formulations (i.e. for
proven treatment / therapy / medicines of AYUSH system) and not for any new
drug experiments – Entire duration of the project

(d) Awareness programmes for the school children – Entire duration of the
project

Modalities of implementation:

1. A well demonstrated group of project management staff will co-ordinate


the entire project term
2. AYUSH and allopathy doctors given proper training by the competent
AYUSH practitioners
3. Awareness programmes and road-shows are conducted to let the public
aware of this project to make this project successful

(a) The grant received under the scheme will be utilized as under :-

(i) Rs. 25 Lakhs of the total grant will be spent on Establishment /


Project Management.
(ii) 90 Lakhs of the total grant will be spent on Medicines.
(iii) 30 Lakhs of the total grant will be spent on AYUSH awareness and
minor equipment for the project.

Measurable outcomes:
Patients and other participants will be given pre and post questionnaire about
the interventions / training needed and measured from the outcome of the
answers

Anticipated impact of intervention:

(a) Reduce the number of incidents of the following diseases by AYUSH proven
intervention:

1) Malaria
2) Chikungunya
3) Acute Diarrhea
4) Respiratory Tract Infection
5) Viral Hepatitis
6) Measles
7) Dengue
8) Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
9) Whooping Cough
