The roles of Men/Husband and women/wife in the Family
RELIGION
-“If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and
especially for his immediate family, he has denied
the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”St Paul, 1 -they should provide love, comfort, protection and support.
Timothy 5:8
-“Discipline your son, and he will give you peace; he parents.
will bring delight to your soul.” Proverbs 29:17
RELIGION
Marriage is important in the Bible, and should be
taken seriously.
1.God intended men and women to join together
for life as couples, and to produce children.
-In the Adam and Eve story, God made Eve as a
partner for Adam. The Adam and Eve Creation Story
teaches that marriage is a gift from God, and a part
of God’s plan for human beings. God intended, right
from the beginning, that men and women should
join together for life as couples. The bond between
a man and a woman produces new life when
children are born, and in this way God’s creation
continues.
2. Adultery is wrong and couples should be faithful
for life.
-Christians believe it is very important for married
people to remain faithful to each other. Adultery
leads to a lack of trust, and shows disrespect for the
holiness of marriage. It breaks the marriage vows.
RELIGION
-Divorce is not allowed
“I hate divorce, says the Lord.” Malachi 2:15
“ Man must not separate what God has joined
together” Matthew 19:6 and Mark 10:9
HUMAN
-They should be the first one where children can find out about
love, companionship and forgiveness.
-educate children to become responsible adults and better

Procreation - having children
Union - a loving partnership of living together
Rearing children - providing nurture & security
Pattern for society - family unit of mutual support
One flesh - sexual intimacy
Sacred - blessed by God
Eternal - lifelong faithful relationship
DIVORCE

Reason/s for divorce
-Affairs. The other person finds out and is so hurt they feel the
trust in the marriage is lost forever.
-Money – too little, or too much…?
-False expectations about marriage - find it hard to cope if
everything is not perfect.
-Work and stress: many partners bring work home Children. -
Husband and wife have less time together; parents disagree
about how to raise children.
-People change as they get older; they might not have much in
common anymore
