I. General Description

Project title: Smog Free Tower

Project location:

The final location of the four Smog Free Tower is based on the current location of the
chosen business who will contribute to the implementation. The four selected location
are near in the public areas because of the high carbon emission due to increasing of
population, vehicles and factories. The proposed location were divided into 4
designated places.

First location : Ladislawa Avenue, Buhangin, Davao City, 8000 Davao del Sur

Second location: La Cima Building, 1 Gen. Douglas MacArthur Hwy, Matina, Davao
City, 8000 Davao del Sur

Third location: Pan-Philippine Hwy, Bunawan, Davao City, 8000 Davao del Sur

Fourth location: C.M. Recto Avenue, Davao City, 8000 Davao Del Sur

Proposed Starting and Completion Date:

Starting Date: August 17, 2022

Completion Date: August 18, 2027

Project Duration: This project will be expected to complete in 5 years. All the activities
as proposed will be

Project Beneficiaries: The project provides a huge incentive for Davao City residents
especially those who have health problems caused by air pollution. It strengthens
livelihood especially ensuring safe and clean air. On the other hand, government
officials particularly the Department of Environment and Natural Resources will serve
this project as a basis to achieve a more environmentally sustainable city. Moreover, it
will be beneficial to the economic stability of the city by making it a more globalized and
attracting tourists and foreign investors.

Implementing Agent: These are one of the four chosen private businesses in Davao
City, Davao Del Sur are mentioned as follows: Aboitiz Power Corporation, Holcim
Philippines Inc. Davao Plant, Davao City Water District and Avida Towers Davao.
Leading sustainable businesses are developing practical standards and the practice of
Corporate Social Responsibility.
II. Background and Justification

Smog Free Tower is a giant air purifier that provides a local solution to clean air in
public spaces. With the height of 7 meters tall, it cleans 30,000 cubic meters of polluted
air per hour then releases the clean air back into the city. The tower sucks in dirty air
from the sky then the ion-technology filters it with the consumption power of only 30
watts. It improves the city with its ability to clean large quantities of air with low energy
consumption that would prevent health problems. It allows people to breathe clean air
plus it also turns into a diamond which means that mining would be lessened. Moreover,
it assists our city to become globalized by enhancing its livability. The tower can
establish public places like parks where people gather for getting fresh air. The tower’s
effectiveness measures up to 75% which gives us an edge to rival Singapore in term of
carbon emissions.The globalized city should be sustainable and resilient and this
project will aid the city to maintain and improve the quality of life which may lead us to
become the most competitive city not just in Asia but in the world.

III. Objectives

General Objectives:

As Davao City is rapidly becoming a central business district, this project aims to
build an air purifier in public places for a clean air enabling residents to avoid adverse
health effects known to be caused by polluted air.

Specific Objectives:

• For residents who are primarily concerned of the project. Exposure to poor air
quality is the root of serious health risk like lung cancer, asthma and heart
disease. Moreover, clean air environment can extend life expectancy and quality
of living.

• For environment it prevents climate change, provides protection of vegetation,

reduced greenhouse gas, cutting down carbon emission and reduced ecosystem
effects. Lessen disease-carrying insects that can affect the health factor. It also
helps restoring water bodies from being contaminated. It is also conserves
energy because it only needs solar power.

• For companies who are involve in this project. These sustainable businesses
participation ensure that all processes and manufacturing activities address
current environmental concerns while maintaining a profit and meeting future
needs.
