Introduction:

What is Urinary System?

-it is also known as the renal system or urinary tract, consists of the
kidneys, ureters, bladder, and the urethra.

Functions:
 Removes metabolic waste
 Urine Transport
 Urine storage and release
 Regulates Blood Pressure
 Helps to stabilize blood pH
 Conserves valuable nutrients

Parts/ Functions:

 Kidneys – two kidneys are present in each human which have functional
units called nephrons. Nepron filter the blood, reasorbs all the useful
substances from that filtrate and remove the rest as urine from Kidneys.
 Ureters – these are two tubes that drain urine from the kidneys to the
bladder. Each ureter is a muscular tube about 10 inches (25 cm) long.
Muscles in the walls of the ureters send the urine in small spurts into the
bladder.
 Urinary bladder – is a hollow muscular and distendible or elastic organ that
sits on the pelvic floor. It stores the urine before it’s removal from the body.
 Urethra – it is a muscular tube that connects the bladder with the outside of
the body. It simply functions to remove urine from body through it’s orifice
opening
.

The urinary system starts in our kidneys. These organs are located in the
upper abdominal area against the back muscles on both the left and right side
of the body that acts like filter devices four our body.
When the blood process through the kidneys. It gets cleaned and
separates the waste compound. This waste combines with excess water
makes urine to which we generally call Pee. After that, the urine is pumped
down through a couple of tubes called the ureters leading to “the bladder” a
pouch- like an organ that holds the pee until the body is ready to get rid of it
and you feel like going to the bathroom. And finally the bladder contracts
and pushes the pee into another tube we call “the urethra” which carries the
pee out of the body.
If you make a habit of holding in your pee for ages you’re subjecting
yourself to serve long term effects, including a higher risk of infection
constantly holding in your pee can weaken your bladder muscles which
could lead to urinary retention a dreaded condition that prevents you from
being able to fully empty your bladder when you pee.
So in the interest of long term health, its not a good habit to hold your
pee for too long. But fortunately, for the short term, your brain and body
have got you covered.
