“SHUFFLE”

By

Henry Baverstock
FADE IN:
SCENE ONE
Cut to a messy bedroom, the camera should be coloured
monochrome and the lens should be out of focus. It is dark,
either only lit by the light inside the room or the natural
morning light coming through the curtains. The camera
should come closer and become more in focus, showing the
mess surrounding; the mess could consist of old dirty
clothes lazily tossed around the room, plates and fast food
wrappers and cups.
A young man sits alone on the floor and in the corner,
silent and showing an expression of negative thought.
Slowly getting up, they look in the mirror behind them,
disgusted by the sight of their own face. Turning away,
they grab their phone and head/earphones before cutting to
the next scene.
There should be no proper music in the scene, either
silence or static to add to the emotion coming from the
young man.
SCENE TWO
The young man is now elsewhere in the house, sitting at a
table with little to no breakfast in front of him; he
should be wearing dark clothing, perhaps a hoodie with the
hood over his head.
The room should be cleaner that his bedroom, but still
untidy. Here the curtains are open, letting more light into
the room, but the young man is still alone. Slipping in his
head/earphones, music now begins to play; the young man
should remain blank, not showing any excitement or giving
off any movement as he eats and listens.
SCENE THREE
The young man is now walking outside towards the camera and
next to a road, looking down at his phone. The road doesn’t
need to be empty at the time of filming, but it is
preferred. The time of filming should be around midday so
the lighting is clear.
An over-the-shoulder shot shows him changing the previous
music to something “happier”, and the young man should look
a little livelier in his expression.

SCENE FOUR
The next shot should consist of the young man now having
his hoodie down and having a mild smile on his face whilst
listening to the music selected in the previous scene.
The location of this scene can either be the young man on a
bus or continuously walking down the road/street he was on.
There should be a cut of him walking down the street with
the camera on the other side of the road before returning
in front of him now smiling even more.
SCENE FIVE
The happiest music should be playing now, with a return to
the young man’s bedroom which is now brighter and cleaner.
He flops onto his back onto the bed, smiling no longer
wearing his hoodie; the camera pans off him before going
out of focus and cutting away.
