Commercial Floor Sweepers -

How to Select the Best Ones?

Buying an industrial floor sweeper is easy; buying one that will serve you reliably for many
years is another tune. There are things to consider, things that matter if you want to make the
most of your money. Here is a start to finish guide on how to make that selection and make the
right choice.

Where to start?
First of all, you need to know that all industrial floor sweepers can be categorized into two
groups: Push Floor Sweepers and Ride-Along Sweepers. Which type suits you most, depends on
the size of the cleaning area, how often you plan to clean it and how clean your premises need
to be.

Industrial ride-along and push floor sweepers are sold in classic brick and mortar shops and
online. You can make rounds to all the local shops that sell them, but the real research is done
online. It doesn’t matter much whether you order them online or you buy them on the spot.
Just make sure that you got the right one that is most suitable for your needs.

Doing the math

A push floor sweeper will cover around 30,000 sq. ft. per hour, while a ride along industrial
floor sweepers is capable of covering 52,000 sq. ft. per hour. When doing the math for the floor
space, take into consideration how much is covered by product and racking, and how much in
office space.
According to some statistics, companies have approximately 30% of their overall building
exposed for cleaning.

How often you plan to clean that space is different for every business. Do you plan to clean the
entire space every day, every second day, every week? Will you be cleaning only a portion of
that space daily, and its entirety every week?

Answer yourself those questions and you will know whether a ride-along or push sweeper works
best for you.

The frequency of the cleaning is another factor. Will you clean the floor space in its entirety
once a week? Or, do you tend to break down the area, cleaning a smaller portion each day?
Your expectations of a maintained area matter as well, possibly increase the frequency of
cleaning.

How about used sweepers?

Three words of advice: price, warranty, and tech support. If you are offered a great deal on a
used one if they are also confident to give you warranty supported by a great support, go for it.
Sometimes even a used one can go a long way, almost as much as a new one.

Select from brands with proven record

Next, you need to make a list of all the top brands on the market and see their offers. Make
sure that the brands you are looking into have been on the market over 10 years, behind them
there is an army of satisfied customers, which is constantly growing, and have a great support.

A warranty only matters with a good tech support. That means they will be a phone call away in
case something goes wrong with your sweeper and that they will send their technicians on the
spot in a moment notice.

If you are lured by a newer brand, make sure that they are constantly growing. Even if they are
on the market for 5 years. Make a small effort and see if their sales are always going up. That
should be a pretty good hint on whether they are worth considering.

Final thoughts
Buying a sweeper is no rocket science, but it still requires certain knowledge. If you read
carefully what was explained to them, then you are on a good path to select one that will suit
your business the most.
