ICS 2412 DIGITAL IMAGE PROCESSING

Lecturer: George Musumba Tel 0796180811 Email: george.musumbaggw@dkut.ac.ke

Course Objective
The main purpose of this course is to introduce the fundamental concepts of digital image
processing and provide the necessary theoretical background and also demonstrate the
application of computer science to digital image processing, using MATLAB or any other
Image Processing tool.

Learning Outcomes:
On successfully completing this course, the student will be able to:
 Describe the foundations of digital image processing: hardware systems,
mathematics basis, light and colour.
 Explain the principles and commonly used techniques of digital image
processing,
 Demonstrate the ability to utilize MATLAB or Java in practical image
processing problems.
 Demonstrate knowledge of Image processing algorithms
 Demonstrate knowledge of image display technologies and interactive
devices.
