Updating the software of the BONAS S600/S800 Jacquard Controller

- Put the Bonas software update on a blank USB memory key

If the software update you received is zipped, unzip the file to the USB memory key.

The software update on the USB memory key is valid if the controller can detect a file named
update.bat in the root of the USB memory key or alternatively inside a folder named bonas.

Examples of a valid file/folder structure of a software update on a USB memory key

Note:
 If the software update you received from Bonas (after it is unzipped) is not held inside a
folder named bonas, please do not create the folder bonas on your USB memory key but
simply copy the software update in the root of the USB memory key.

 If the software update you received from Bonas (after it is unzipped) is wrapped inside a
folder named bonas, copy this complete folder to the root of the USB memory key. Do
not copy the file(s)/folder(s) from inside the bonas folder to the root of the USB
memory key.

 Please do not make your USB memory key write-protected after you’ve put the Bonas
software on the USB key. During the update, files need to be written on the USB key.

- Stop the loom, switch off the controller, wait a few seconds and switch the controller on again.

- When the controller displays the main screen, plug the USB memory key that holds the
software update in the USB port of the controller. If the software update is copied onto a floppy
disk, insert the floppy disk in the floppy disk drive (for S800: USB floppy disk drive; not
standard).

 - Then from the controller’s main screen, press the buttons and .

By pressing these buttons one after the other, the technician screen is displayed:

Note: If necessary, press the button (top left of the screen) to make the option buttons 1
to 9 visible on the right hand side of the screen.

- Press option button 5. The controller will now ask if you’re sure to start the software update.

 - Press the button. The controller will close the main application and start the software
update.
After the software update is done the controller software will shut down automatically and the
controller will display “It is now safe to turn off your computer”.

Important:

Please do not switch off the controller before you see the message “It is now safe to turn
off your computer” on the screen.

If the controller is switched off before this message is displayed, it will result in a
corrupted operating system (blue screen).

- Switch off the controller.

You can now unplug the USB memory key from the USB port or remove the floppy disk from
the floppy disk drive.

- Wait a few seconds and then switch on the controller again.

Once the controller displays its main screen again it is ready to use.
