One of the consequences of improved technology is that many jobs that used to be done by

people can now be completed by robots or computers.

Do you think the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own
knowledge and experience.

Technological advances always have an impact on people at work where it can replace people in
the workplace. Moreover, with today’s technology, this process is happening at a greater rate and
is increasingly responsible for unemployment. Sometimes, it can mean that people are no longer
necessary in their jobs. On the other side, automation, which is triggered by improved technology,
also can make people work in easier ways.
Firstly, in many production-oriented factories, machinery has evolved to such a degree that the
demand for physical labors has considerably reduced. The result of this is that certain industries
do not really need many people since automated machines and robots were able to do jobs. For
example, in the automotive industry, robots can replace human jobs for several tasks such as
painting the car or putting the car together. As a result, this industry may stop recruiting new
employees and even existing employees are being laid off.
Secondly, technology has made many jobs redundant where a computer can perform tasks in a
matter of minutes that will take several days to complete by human. In this context, the
advancement of technology can reduce the cost of production and also improve the ways of work.
For example, people who work in service industries like banking use computers much more than
pen and paper nowadays where it can save much time to produce more works accurately.
Furthermore, a lot of customers now can perform banking transactions online by using
technology. So that, more inventors nowadays are working hard to build new machines and
robots to optimize their production capacity.
To sum up, despite technology might affect many workers for their work positions, I personally
think that it will be extremely hard to live without it as it helps us in various ways of work. Thus,
I really thing that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
The map below shows the church precincts in 1600 and in 2000. Summarize the
information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparison where
relevant.

These two figures show the area of a church in two different times, in the year of 1600 and 2000.
In these two years, the location of church was same where the east area and the south area were
respectively bordered by High Street and Church Lane. A difference is that the southern part had
a pavement for the recent year.
In 2000, St Peter’s Church was reconstructed to become St Peter’s School with wider area that
had a car park. In addition, the old rectory was converted into flats and the chapel was
demolished. In this year, the church area then had two gates while it only had one in 1600.
Beside the chapel, the nunnery that was built nearby the past gate was also demolished and was
replaced with a garden in this year. On the other side, the graveyard was made bigger with the
same location, beside the Church Tower.
Overall, in a period of 400 years, this worship area became less exclusive to the public with more
general types of building such as school, flat, and graveyard.
