Dell is a US-based multinational company that develops, sells, repairs and supports

founder, Michael Dell, and one of the world's largest technologies companies with over
145,000 employees worldwide.

Dell sells personal computers (PCs), servers, storage devices, networking switches, software,
peripheral computers, HDTV, cameras, printers, MP3 players and other manufacturer-built
electronics. The company is famous for its innovations in supply chain management and
electronic trade, especially its Direct Sales model and its production approach of' Build-to-
Order' and' Configure-to-Order' — delivering individual PCs that meet customer
requirements. For much of its existence, Dell was pure hardware provider, but Dell entered
the market for IT services with the acquisition in 2009 of Perot Systems. Since then the
company has acquired additional storage and networking systems in order to expand their
portfolio from computer services to full solutions.

In Fortune 500's list, Dell was listed at 51 up to 2014. The newly confidential nature of its
financial information, after being held private in 2013, prevents Fortune from ranking the
company. In 2015, Lenovo and HP were the world's third largest PC supplier. Dell is the
world's largest supplier of PC displays. According to Fortune magazine, Dell is the sixth
largest enterprise in Texas with total sales. It is Texas ' second-largest non-oil company–the
largest in Austin–and behind AT&T. The company was publicly traded (NASDAQ: DELL)
as well as a NASDAQ-100/S&P 500 component until it was taken into private hands in a
leveraged purchase that closed on 30 October 2013.
After the acquisition was finished, Dell and EMC became Dell Technologies subsidiaries,
which are the first company to acquire EMC Corporation's software company in 2015.
