This is going to be a fun year of learning and growing! The purpose of this class is to develop
skills as growing writers and readers while discovering more about ourselves and our stories. We
will be reading lots of Young Adult Literature and analyzing them through journals, discussions,
reflections, and other classroom assignments. All students will be held to high expectations
both academically and behaviorally. It is important to strive toward reaching your goals. If you
need any help with anything, please see me so we can work together to ensure you are
successful.

After-school Help
I am willing to meet with you during lunch or
after school for extra help. I am here after
school until 4:00 everyday. Feel free to stop
by if you have any questions or need any
assistance with anything.
Please note: if you would like to schedule a
meeting, let me know in advance so I can
reserve time after school to meet.
You may also email me for help. It is my
intent to respond within 24 hours.
Academic Dishonesty
All work that you submit must be
your own work. You may NOT do
any of the following:
1) Turn in or copy someone else’s work.
2) Copy someone’s work and change a
few of the words.
3) Copying words from a source without
citing it and giving credit to the source.
4) Look at someone else’s work during a
quiz, test, or anything in the like.
If you are doing any of the above or
anything that is considered academically
dishonest, you will not receive credit on
the assignment and you will be sent to In
School Suspension with a referral. Please
be be honest and do your own work. It’s
not worth it.
Technology
Technology is a great tool! We will be
utilizing various resources to access the
Internet to research, review materials,
and submit assignments.
Cell phones, ear buds, iPads, and
Watches need to be put away unless
directed otherwise. If I see any
technology distracting you, I will have
to take it until the end of the day per
school policy. Please be responsible.
Your Snapchat can wait.
Other Policies
• Bottled water and snacks are permitted
in our classroom. Please be mindful of
your trash and crumbs. If snacks are a
disturbance, I will ask you to put it away
for later.
• You have three bathroom passes per
quarter. Any unused bathroom passes
will count as extra credit.
• Come prepared to class with your
materials and a positive attitude.
• Be respectful to everyone, and their
stories and ideas.
• You are expected to engage and be
an active member of the classroom.
