UNIT/CHAPTER OBJECTIVE/GENERALIZATION/BIG IDEA:


• The students will be able to identify, define, analyze and list the cycles of water in
chronological order.
• The students also will be able to state why the water cycle is important.

LESSON OBJECTIVE:
• At the completion of this assignment the students will be able to analyze, identify,
and define the cycles of water at a 80-100% accuracy.

STANDARDS ADDRESSED:
• CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RST.6-8.1
• Cite specific textual evidence to support analysis of science and technical texts.

MATERIALS:

BACKGROUND and RATIONALE:


• As students exit class they will have to name at least one of the cycles of water as an
exit ticket.
• The next morning the students will have to have a entrance ticket defining one of the
cycles of water.
• Students will also complete a reflection based on the information that they have
learned from the 1st day of information they have learned.
• Students with an IEP or 504 will work closely with the teacher in a group, and or
will be partnered with a student with strong strengths in the area of the topic to help
with assignment.
• Students will also complete a quiz worksheet.
PROCEDURES AND TIMELINE:
• Introduction: Mr. Ross will intruduce the topic with a 10 minute
reflection asking students prior knowledge of the water cycle.?
• Procedures The 1st day assinnment the class will be met with a 10
minute reflection assignment with the question of why is water in
important asking students to brainstorm and write down ideas about what
they think.
• The next twenty minutes the students will watch a short video on the
cycles of water.
• The last 30 minutes the teacher and students wiil go over vocabulary terns
related to the lesson.
• The next day the students will break into 2 groups. Group 1 and Group 2
Group 1 will work Mr. Smith in the computer lab researching about the
lesson about why water is important on earth also using the web 2.0
kahoots! to help with the lesson with pop up questions in games. Group 2
will work with Mr. Ross in the classroom analyzing information that they
have pulled from the text and utlyzing the white board defining the cycles
and placing them and chronological order. The groups will work for 30
minutes and then the groups will switch teacher.
• Closure: What do you have planned to close the lesson?
• The closure of the lesson will be a 2 part quiz one being an actual
question qiuz and a written quiz with students writing a page paper on
what they have learned about this assignment, and it will be taking up the
day of the exam as an entrance ticket into the classroom.

ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE:
• Each day at the end of the assigned days for the lesson the teacher and class will
have open discussion regarding the lesson.
• Everyone will be required to participate in the class discussion it will be 20% of their
grade each day of the class discussion.
• Also a quiz on the site kahoot! will be done also.

MODIFICATIONS:
• Student who are absent on daily assignments will be allowed to make up any work
that is missed.
• Students who score below the 70% on any quiz or exam will be allowed to retake
any quiz. Students who are absent on class discussions will have to write a 1
paragraph summary on the lesson that was missed that to receive credit.
