LESSON PLAN IN ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE

I. CONTENT INSTALL ELECTRICAL LIGHTING SYSTEMS, AUXILIARY OUTLETS

AND LIGHTING FIXTURES (EL)

3.2 Circuit using two 3-way switches

A. CONTENT STANDARD The learner demonstrates an understanding of the basic concepts and
underlying theories in electrical installation and maintenance.

C. LEARNING COMPETENCIES At the end of the lesson, at least 80% of the learners are expected to:
o
o Understand in installing one bulb controlled by two 3 – way
switches in two locations.
o Perform the connection of one bulb controlled by two 3 – way
switches in two locations.

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary Activities

Teacher’s Activity Students Activity

Please all stand for our prayer. Let us be aware

that we are in the holy presence of God. Let us
pray. In the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit...AMEN

Good morning class

Is there any absent in the class?

What was our lesson last meeting?

Are there any clarifications or questions from the
previous discussion?

The teacher introduces the following Specific

Learning Outcomes using any of the suggested
protocols (Verbatim, Own Words, Read-aloud)

o Understand in installing one bulb

controlled by two 3 – way switches in two
locations.
o Perform the connection of one bulb
controlled by two 3 – way switches in two
locations.
B. MOTIVATION

Teacher’s Activity Students Activity

The teacher will show a sample finished
connection of one bulb controlled by two 3 – way
switches in two locations and will try to switch it
on and off.

C. ACTIVITY

Teacher’s Activity Students Activity

The teacher will let the students take the right
diagram/connection as based on the sample
finished 1 bulb controlled by two 3 – way switches
in two locations given the parts.

D. ANALYSIS

Teacher’s Activity Students Activity

The teacher will give the right connection of
the given sample and will explain how the
current flows and some of the important
points to avoid short circuit or faulty wiring.

E. ABSTRACTION

Teacher’s Activity Students Activity

The teacher will discuss each part of the
diagram, the importance of each part and the
color coding for the live and ground.

F. APPLICATION

Teacher’s Activity Students Activity

The students will draw in the bond paper the
right diagram and will do an actual
performance in installing and connecting 1
bulb controlled by two 3 – way switches in
two location as based on the diagram.
G. EVALUATION

Teacher’s Activity Students Activity

The teacher will instruct the students to
prepare ½ sheet of paper and will answer the
following questions below.

1. Explain how current flows from the

safety switch to the bulb.
2. Explain how 3 - switch works.

H. ASSIGNMENT
The teacher will have an agreement with the students that they are going to bring drawing
materials for the diagraming.
