EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

BURP’S is a business of selling traditional chips with our motto “CHIPS THAT
INSPIRING US!”. All people know we as Malaysian likes to eat snack during free
time, watching movies, watching football in stadium or anywhere. Snacks is like part
of our life because it is familiar with us especially during our cultural festival no
matter you are Malay, Chinese, Indian and Iban. The objective of our company is to
survive in business although we sell our product cheaper than the other with
unpredictable nation’s economy while being comply with customer requirements,
having a good profit to attract huge companies to have a deal with us and always
one step ahead of competitor.

Our first own shop will be set up in UiTM Penang, so we will take this opportunity as
stepping stone to establish our business officially. As we operate in UITM Penang, we
target students and staff as our main target. Outsiders are welcome to our store to
boost our spirit to keep us doing business like our hobby.We use Facebook, Instagram,
Twitter, Whatsapp and Telegram as our platform to spread news about sales and
information of our shop. This will help to spread our shop to other much faster,
efficiently and effortlessly. Our shop will offer different than the other shops that
make us unique. Our chips have excellent taste which is not too salty or spicy and not
too wet for Kerepek Pedas but with affordable price for students. This is a deal that
customer cannot resist. Other than that, we will give a discount to people that follow
and share about our shop on media social and with every purchase exceed that 3 units.

Our shop will be manage by five partners which has extensive experience in sales,
marketing and management. By having five manager and good communication
between us, it will ensure our business to become more smoothly. To maintain
generate repeat revenue, our shop will give excellent customer service with consistent
service experience to our customers because all of us had experience in customer
service. We also open pre-order service and delivery service to our customer to attract
more customer to buy our famously chips.

As a conclusion, BURP’S shop aims to give the best what we can afford to our
customer. We hope we could improve our business and gain more knowledge in doing
business.

OBJECTIVES

A business is defined as an organization or enterprising entity engaged in commercial,


industrial, or professional activities. Businesses can be for-profit entities or non-profit
organizations that operate to fulfill a charitable mission or further a social cause. The
term business also refers to the organized efforts and activities of individuals to
produce and sell goods and services for profit. Businesses range in scale from a sole
proprietorship to an international corporation. Several lines of theory are engaged
with understanding business administration including organizational behavior,
organization theory, and strategic management.

The first object in our business when we have start-up our business is to survive in the
business industry. Survival is very important for small companies, especially when
there is an economic crisis. In fact, it is also a priority for many large corporations. An
economic crisis is a situation in which the economy takes a sudden and severe
downturn.

Next, to ensure the customer service always at an excellent level. Good customer
service helps retain clients and generate repeat revenue. Repeat customers, referrals
and former customers can be a huge asset business and this customer need to be
treated with consistent service experiences. This is very important because
inconsistent service experiences will make the customer think we not serious in doing
business.

Besides, maintaining a good profit. Even a company with good profit needs financing
contacts in the event that capital is needed to expand the organization. Maintaining the
ability to finance operations means that we can prepare for long-term projects and
address short-term needs such as payroll and accounts payable. By having healthy
cash flow also will make the huge companies have confident with went doing a
business us.

Last but not least, is to always stay one step ahead of the competition. A
comprehensive analysis of the activities of the competition should be an ongoing
business objective in the organization. Understanding where the products rank in the
marketplace helps to better determine how to improve our standing among consumers
and improve the revenue.

IDENTIFICATION, EVALUATING AND SELECTING BUSINESS


OPPURTUNITY

Identification, evaluation, and selecting business opportunity are the most difficult
task. Entrepreneurship does not always begin with the creative concept for a new
product, service, or process. It often begins with the entrepreneur’s alertness to
identify an opportunity. Whether the opportunity is identified by using input from
consumers, business associates, channel members, or technical experts, the
entrepreneur needs to carefully screen and evaluate each opportunity. This evaluation
of the opportunity is perhaps the most critical element of the entrepreneurial process
as it assesses whether the specific product or service has the needed returns compared
to the required resources.

The main product of MHP Enterprise Sdn. Bhd. to be sell by us is traditional chips.
This traditional chips have a lot of different variation in term of taste, ingredient and
so on. There are four different type of chips which is Kerepek Pedas, Kerepek BBQ,
Kerepek Bawang and Kerepek Pisang and maybe we will create a different or rare
chips with a unique taste like Kerepek Cheese and Kerepek Chocolate. All this type of
chips obviously taste different because we want to variation of our product selling. As
we know, every customer's taste is different. So, with the diversity of flavour, then we
can fulfill the requirements of our customers. With precise skills and time to fried the
chips, these chips will be more crisp to bite. Therefore, this chips is perfectly suitable
to serve as a daily snack and can be eaten anywhere and anytime. Maybe we could
collaborate with cinemas like Golden Screen Cinemas to sell our chips there because
we know that people like to bite on something while watching a movie, ‘Movie n
Chill’.

Our product may seem not as trends like any modern food but believe us these chips
will be preferred food university students because of perfectness of their taste. For
example, when midnight, students will feel hungry but the cafeteria already close.
Then this chips is very suitable as it is easy to eat and it is the best choice to enjoy
especially during free time. Not only that, these chips are also long lasting to keep
then the student does not have to worry about storing it because the packaging has zip
lock that is airtight and food not easy to become stale.

This chips look so simple as it seen but the taste is rich with asian savoury. Our main
target customers is university students and staff. It is because the price that we put for
the the chips is affordable with the taste for university students to buy as it only cost
RM6.00 per unit for big pack while RM 2.00 for small pack. Apart from that, we also
believe that the taste of it will makes you want to eat another one package no matter
you are older or younger people. Furthermore, we used social media and internet such
as Facebook, Whatsapp, Telegram and Instagram to promote our products and draw
more customers attention to buy and try our chips.

Business Model Canvas is a strategic management and lean startup template for
developing new or documenting existing business models. It is a visual chart with
elements describing a firm's or product's value proposition, infrastructure, customers,
and finances. It assists firms in aligning their activities by illustrating potential
trade-off. The Business Model Canvas was initially proposed by Alexander
Osterwalder based on his earlier work on Business Model Ontology.Since the release
of Osterwalder's work in 2008, new canvases for specific niches have appeared.

1) Customer Segments

Our focus more on people where there is always people who across anytime so we
choose Laman Perdana as business operation location since it is a centre place where
there are ATM machines, several mini marts and printing services which is always
gather the students around the UiTM for finishing their assingment. So we devoted
our main customers to the UiTM Pulau Pinang students and staff. They can observe
the product while they pass by our stall. Since our product is chips, it is suitable for
students and staffs to have snacks while they hungry because of the pack schedule.

Some students also have class gap between their classes, usually they spend the time
searching something to eat or drink. The price does not have to be expensive since
students did not have their own income accept for the staff. Students need focus while
their learning, eating something might make them gains some energy. Students also
move in a small group, once a member in the group buy something they will follow
him or her because they want to value their time.

2) Value Proposition

The low energy and hunger will break the good day. The crunchiness and delicious
chip will help gain the customers focus back for learning, teaching and working. The
varieties of chips will fulfill customers hunger even for a while. We can guarantee
that customers will not be disappointed if they buy our crunchy chips because of its
very marvelous value and they will get pleasure from their snacks. The flavorful of
chips which are spicy, BBQ and banana will wake customers awake for a while even
enough for waiting lunch or dinner time. A broad range of chips choices would appeal
to a family and friends. The chips would appeal to somebody who is looking to have a
bite to eat and relax or perhaps socialize. Customers are strongly positive to buy this
product.

3) Channels

In the university environment the uses of WhatsApp is common for the


communication or info. Then we will reach them through that app with our
advertisement such as poster and video in order to market our products. We also use
Instagram,Twitter, Facebook to promote our product in public for example, we will
use hashtag in Instagram so all UiTM student and staff will notice our mini stall.
Direct selling is our best way since a lot of people will pass by our products. It is
easier to present our product. We also will begin to stocking the shelves or table with
chips. If customers have a strong desire to find a good one they will feel free to buy
one.

4) Customer relationship

The relationship we connect with customer are through Whatsapp group. We also
prefer one of our business partner gonna reply all the customer massage to make sure
them not waiting for to long to get our product. We also give a free tester to customer
to make them atleast taste the product and satisfied before buying our product.
Everyone have their own taste with this method customer gonna feel we care about
their tastebud or also can taste the different flavour that we offer.

5) Key partners

For our selling activity, our group got supplied the product of Traditional Chips from
making a key partner with MHP Enterprise Sdn. Bhd. We did a meeting with the
manager of the company for discussing about the quantity of the cookies that we need
to sell and also the price that we need to pay them for each product. Selling with a
reasonable could also attract the customer so we did choose the price carefully to gain
profit and also to gain cutsomer. At the end of the discussion, all of us agree to pay
them at RM 3.50 per pack of the product.We also get a greaat deal from seller
because we take a huge amount. We are really satisfied with the price the company
give us . Then, the company is officially be our key partner as a supplier of the
BURP’S that we plan to sell .

6) Key Activities

We did promoting our product on Facebook, Instagram , Twitter, Whatsapp and


Twitter. Every student must have atleast one of this social media in this day.
Through this social media, costumers will know more detail about our product which
is Traditional Chips by BURP’S that we sell. We also make a cash on delivery (COD)
for our product with free extra delivery charge if they take above then 10 pack .
Furthermore, we also provide a 20% discount to customers who purchase our
products above 3 pack and above. If customer follow and share our social media, they
get 10% discount to buy this chips. From this, it able to attract customers to buy our
products in big quantity. So, the customer will feel really satisfied with our offer .

7) Key Resource

MHP Sdn. Bhd. is our key resources. We buy from them ready made traditional chips
with a various type of flavour gonna be a top selling product. The selling also gonna
be easy due to the product are ready made. We just need a customer and enjoying
our selling activities.

8) Cost Structure

For our business,we just spend a small amount of money to buy traditional chips and
also for our marketing purpose.Cost that we spend on the traditional chips is just RM
90.00 for 40 packs which is 20 for big pack value RM 3.50 per packs while RM 2.00
for small packs. For marketing purpose,we use poster.Cost for poster is just RM 5.00
for 10 poster.So the total cost that we have to pay is just RM 100.00 for 40 packs of
traditional chips and also 10 units of poster.

9) Revenue

On the day of selling our product,we decide to sell our product with the price of RM
6.00 per big packs and RM 2.00 for small packs. Our products is sold out as we put
100% of commitment and dedication to make sure our product finish. We had
successfully sold 32 packs which is all small pack were sold out at “Laman Perdana”
and the remaining were sold by cash on delivery method (COD).So,we managed to
get RM 276.00 from our selling.For profit,we gain RM 176.00 which is a quite good
for a beginner like us. This means our product can be accepted by others.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, our goal is to gain more profit in our business.This is because our
planning is to always seek profit and try to avoid losses. As a result of our sales, we
can learn about how to run business correctly with the guidance from our business
partners . We have also learned on how to approach our partners by talking to them to
gain more knowledge about business including the skill needed and so on from our
business partner. Last but not least, we also hope that from this business experience
we enable to practic this experience in the future as knowledge for us to open up
any kind of businesses.
