2. Prerequisites: State what students should know prior to this lesson.

a. students should know how to divide by single digit numbers

3. Essential Questions: List essential questions (Usually, this is in your

curriculum documents.)
a. How can you use models to divide whole numbers that do not divide
evenly?

4. Materials and Equipment: List all materials and equipment to be used by the
teacher and students. Tell how they will be used to meet the objective.
a. math notebooks to record notes on targeted skill
b. math problems to practice targeted skill

5. Instructional Objective: State what students will know and be able to do at

the end of this lesson. Fill in the blanks: “Students will learn to use models to
divide whole numbers that do not divide equally and be able to complete one
problem on an exit slip correctly after practicing.

6. Instructional Procedures: List instructional strategies and learning

experiences that are in alignment with the objective(s). Include information
about what teaching strategies you will use to engage students. Include
information about what type of technology, manipulatives, etc. you will use
to facilitate students meeting the objectives.
● Before: Anticipatory set, minilesson
a. Students will paste graphic organizer into their notebooks.
b. Teacher will model completing the first problem using red and
yellow counters. Teacher will point out how each group must have
an equal number of counters in them. If there are counters left
over which can not be evenly distributed, this is called the
remainder. Also this can be checked by using inverse operation
and adding the remainder. Should get the dividend.
c. Students will work with their math buddies to complete the two
remaining notebook examples together (one with circles drawn
for them, the other without).
● During: Group work, independent practice
a. Sw complete share and show with a partner and the on your own
independently.
b. Have students actively involved in sharing out their process of
solving problems
● After: Closure, assessment

lesson. Will you differentiate content, process, and/or product? Will you
make it more challenging or do you have students that need support in
meeting the objectives?
a. exit slip will have the circles given to students to help them set up the
problem.
