INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background
Complementary therapies are methods of trying to treat illnesses, and these
methods fall outside of conventional medicine. The word ‘complementary’ refers to the
fact that they may be used in addition to the conventional medicine approaches advised
by medical professionals. Some practitioners use these therapies on their own, instead
of conventional medicine. This use makes it an alternative therapy rather than a
complementary therapy. Parts of Complimentary Care suc as; acupressur, acupunktur,
reflexy, traditional herbal of medicine, massage therapy, and others. in this era,
complimentary care is importand because can completing the conventional medicine.
many patients or peoples, prefers to do complementary care to help them stablize their
health. (Cancer Research, 2016)
One of the part of Complementary therapy is Massage therapy. Massage therapy
is used to help manage a health condition or enhance wellness. It involves manipulating
the soft tissues of the body. Massage has been practiced in most cultures, both Eastern
and Western, throughout human history, and was one of the earliest tools that people
used to try to relieve pain. Massage therapy has been studied for several types of pain,
including low-back pain, neck and shoulder pain, pain from osteoarthritis of the knee,
and headaches. And with appropriate precautions, massage therapy can be part of
supportive care for cancer patients who would like to try it; however, the evidence that
it can relieve pain and anxiety is not strong.
